Zhu Yan (朱颜) was cultivation assassin hired to kill hero Qin Shi. One-off antagonist appeared in Chinese manhua Super Son-in-law In Another World (異界超級贅婿) issues 46, 49-53.
Story[]
Ordinary undergraduate Qin Shi is accidentally sent on a time-space journey to another planet, becoming leader of the evil Xia clan. Qin Shi wants to resign as this position, but through circumstance is forced to lead and marry Xia’s daughter, all while trying to keep his morals intact.
The Xia clan’s chief adversaries, the Yun clan, hired the assassin Zhu Yan, a highly skilled ninja with fire-based cultivation powers. She agrees to secretly kill Qin Shi.
Qin Shi travels alone to the forest to discover his spirit animal and increase his cultivation skill. Zhu Yan approaches him in the forest, pretending to be sent by his allies to lead him back to the city. Qin Shi is suspicious, but Zhu Yan jumps on his back and pins him down, vowing to kill him. He bucks her off, but she attacks with her far more formidable fire cultivation powers. He barely blocks her firestorm but manages to jump on her back and steal one her skills, the phoenix star power.
Pissed at the affront, Zhu Yan firebombs Qin Shi, which he barely survives. She is lording her helpless victim when Qin Shi’s allies arrive to protect him, including his estranged wife. Zhu Yan arrogantly attempts to go thru them to complete her kill.
Qin Shi is suddenly revived by unlocking several animal-based skills, achieving his next cultivation level. He launches multiple attacks Zhu Yan, including the phoenix star power, and she is now severely outmatched. Zhu Yan decides to run away from the fight, frustrated, believing she was unbeatable. The escaping Zhu Yan is stopped in her tracks by Qin Shi, who unleashes the “white tiger – heart claw” skill on her. Zhu Yan is killed instantly by this maneuver.
