Zelda was a murdering sorceress who planned to extort money from a city or destroy it with her voodoo like powers. She appeared in Plastic Man (1943) #42. Art by Jack Cole.
Story[]
Plastic Man was stopping a bank robbery when the crooks suddenly died, as if controlled by an outside force. They died saying “She’s killing me”. Plastic Man’s investigation took him to the home of Zelda. Zelda revealed herself to be a witch that had hired the crooks, then killed them through use of voodoo dolls. She then used this same power to subdue Plas. She laid out her plan to modernize witchcraft by murdering individuals for money using of her voodoo dolls. Her main goal though was extorting entire cities for money or destroy the city, as her voodoo abilities could also be used on inanimate objects like buildings as well. Zelda had set up an enchantment so any resembling object inside her house could affect the real-world object/person.
Plas was able to get free of Zelda’s bonds, she called on her two grotesque goons to help her. Zelda threw an image of Plas into the fire to melt him, but he was able recover. The goons still had the upper hand in the continuing fight, but Plas had the brilliant idea to morph into a Zelda doppelganger. Plas fooled a goon into twisting his head like a corkscrew. This in turn broke Zelda’s neck, killing her.
