Xayide (Clarissa Burt) is the villainess in the 1990 German-American fantasy film The Neverending Story II: The Next Chapter. Xayide is depicted in the movie very much like the description of the book, as emptiness (opposite of dreams and story) brought to life being and cunning enough to manipulate Bastian Bux (Jonathan Brandis) into delusion.
Story[]
The witch Xayide is faceless in her first appearance and puts on a face by applying a magic substance. Xayide plans to usurp the Childlike Empress and take over Fantasia. She uses a machine so that every time Bastion makes a wish he loses a memory, ensuring he will forget his mission to save Fantasia. Xayide gives Bastian the belt Ghemmal, which turns its wearer invisible to spy on his friend Atreyu, but it forces him to use a wish to become visible again.
Xayide meets her demise in the movie when Bastian uses his last wish for her to have a heart, causing her to no longer be empty and cancel herself out, which in turn makes her explode in a blast of light. With Xayide now dead, her giants are also destroyed, and Fantasia is restored.
