She was the supreme religious leader "Kai" on the planet Bajor, who aspired to be the supreme political leader as well. She even conspired with a Cardassian, Gul Dukat, and black magic/evil spirits. In Bajor's Fire Caves she died when she tried to give Sisko the Book of the Kosst Amojan, returning to the faith in the final minutes of her life.Her death by Dukat was enough of a distraction to the egocentric cardassian so that Sisko could hurl himself, Dukat and the Kosst Amojan into the fire caves flames which burned up Dukat and the book trapping Dukat forever with the Pah-Wraiths while Sisko becomes one of the Prophets. Thus ironically Winn by her one and only heroic acton saved Bajor and the universe . ("What You Leave Behind")
