'Veronica Frye (Rachel Skarsten) is the main villainess of "Hook, Line and Sinker", episode 5.07 of Republic of Doyle (airdate November 20, 2013). She was initially introduced as a hiker who encountered Des Courtney and Jake and Malachy Doyle in the forest, where they had been on a fishing trip when they witnessed two men (later revealed as Pete Donnelly and Rick Harding) disposing of a dead body.

While Veronica initially claimed to have seen Pete and Rick kill the man, it was later revealed that the man (identified as Sean Barrett) had survived the murder attempt--and was also Veronica's boyfriend. Sean worked as a member of the Montreal mob, headed by Andre Besson (the head of the infamous Besson crime family). Angered by Besson refusing to move him up in the mob due to not being family, Sean conspired with Veronica to steal bearer bonds from the mob in retaliation. After being shot by Pete and Rick, Sean killed Rick and he and Veronica began searching for the bonds, with Veronica posing as a hiker to gain the trust of the Doyles and Des.

While Jake and Malachy went with Pete to find Rick and the bonds, Veronica convinced Des to come with her to find a way to escape the forest, with the two later going into Rick and Pete's trailer to relax. As Veronica fixed her and Des tea, however, Des noticed a medical vial on the counter, causing him to realize that Veronica was trying to drug him. Taking advantage of Veronica's attempt to seduce him, Des switched their mugs so that Veronica would take the drugged drink, with Des pretending to get drowsy to trick Veronica before she passed out. Shortly after Veronica woke up, enraged at Des for drugging her, Sean arrived and held Des at gunpoint, with the villainous couple forcing Des to show them where the bonds were. Jake was ultimately able to find the three and offered Sean the money in exchange for Des, only for Sean to prepare to kill them to eliminate any witnesses. Jake, however, was able to subdue Sean when he stepped into a bear trap, with Veronica fleeing with the bonds. The Doyles later confronted Veronica along with Des and Pete as she attempted to drive away with the bonds, with the villainess attempting to force Jake at gunpoint to get out of her way. Des was able to defeat Veronica by shooting her with a tranquilizer dart, with Veronica later being arrested along with Sean and Pete.
