Talleigha Fishtail (Tiana Camacho) is a character in Barbie: Mermaid Power. As a super-competitive and cynical mermaid who lives in Pacifica, she serves as a minor antagonist and a major rival for Malibu and Brooklyn during their visit to the kingdom. She is

Story[]

Talleigha is present at the ceremony of the Golden Pearl, where she is chosen as one of the competitors in the Pacifica games that will determine the newest Power Keeper. After the Barbies and the other Roberts sisters arrive for the opening ceremony, she swims with Sareena, Finn and Finn's little sister Aquaryah to the castle for that event, expressing to the others her obvious desire to win the competition and become the new Power Keeper. Aquaryah protests to her that merpeople may get numerous powers, but the only power any merperson truly has is the one that is meant for them. However, Talleigha openly dismisses this idea and berates the younger mermaid for having such thoughts, stating that Aquaryah can never keep up with the "big fish" before leaving to go inside the castle with Sareena and Finn.

When Coralia reveals at the opening ceremony that two of the contestants for the games have come to Pacifica from the surface, Talleigha is one of the merpeople who openly expresses distrust toward the humans-turned-mermaids, along with Sareena and Finn. During a practice session where Malibu and Brooklyn are training with Isla, Talleigha and Sareena call Isla away to meet with Coralia for unknown reasons and berate the two new mermaids simply for being different.

During the nightly feast, Talleigha and Sareena approach Malibu and Brooklyn again, and challenge them to a Power-Off above a deadly whirlpool. Due to Malibu's inexperience at calling forth her powers, Talleigha and Sareena have a huge advantage and nearly drop their opponents into the whirlpool. Talleigha's Winner-Take-All attitude and her insults toward Malibu infuriate Brooklyn so much that her Fire powers respond to her strong emotions and awaken instantly. And in response, Talleigha's refusal to be overshadowed by a human allows her to awaken her own Fire powers. And once she awakens these powers, she uses them to sneak-attack Malibu and push her dangerously close to the whirlpool. However, Stacie sees this event, and her concern for her sister's safety awakens her inner Earth powers, which she subsequently uses to manipulate a boulder and block the whirlpool's current, saving Malibu. Talleigha suggests they enter another round, but Brooklyn, having borne witness to her opponent's blatant example of poor sportsmanship, declares the Power-Off over, and she swims away with the Roberts sisters before anyone else can protest. Once the five humans-turned-mermaids are gone, Aquaryah calls Talleigha out on her sneak tactics, and Finn agrees with his sister, but Talleigha, feeling betrayed by both of them, doesn't care who gets hurt as long as she wins.

At the games the next day, Talleigha competes in the Air and Earth challenges and witnesses Finn as he awakens Earth powers, but when they learn that Aquaryah has disappeared, Finn decides to go out to search for her, accompanied by Skipper, despite being told by Talleigha that if he does not return by the time for the next challenge, he'll be disqualified. Finn, however, decides that the safety of his sister comes first above all else and is berated by Talleigha behind his back.

During the Water challenge, Talleigha tries to wrestle a shark into partnering with her for the obstacle course, but is completely ignored for her troubles. Despite Talleigha's continued sneak tactics, Sareena wins the challenge, with Malibu a close second, and Sareena immediately awakens Water powers afterwards. Once the race is over, Sareena confronts Talleigha about her super-competitive attitude and declares that she will no longer support her, and Talleigha simply considers her another enemy that stands in her way. But just then, Finn and Skipper return with a distressed Viva. With Sareena and Malibu translating, Viva informs everyone that Aquaryah and Malibu's sister Chelsea have been kidnapped, and when Malibu offers to go rescue them, Talleigha berates her decision to put the needs of others ahead of her own. On this, Brooklyn snaps and expresses her opinion on the true meaning of sisterhood, just as Coralia reveals that the games must be postponed for an immediate emergency that must be attended to. Talleigha leaves with her fellow merpeople to clear away an island of trash that endangers Mermaid Rock and the Mermaid Moon Festival.

Talleigha works with the others to try to clear away the trash, but the powers the merpeople have are ineffective against it, even when Malibu arrives to lend a hand. Talleigha explains that they need the power of the Power Keeper, just as Chelsea and Aquaryah rejoin the group. Malibu explains that Aquaryah is the new Power Keeper, and Aquaryah proves them all right when she awakens her innate powers. Talleigha works alongside her fellow merpeople and channels her power into Aquaryah, and with her newfound powers, they are able to obliterate the accumulated trash completely.

At the end of the day, Talleigha joins in the celebration of the Mermaid Moon festival at Mermaid Rock, providing firework effects alongside Brooklyn for the party.

Appearance[]

Talleigha's skin is a deep sea green. Her deep blue hair is parted between the middle and styled in two braids tied with small multi-colored hair bands at the back of her neck and held in place at the sides of her head by three pairs of barrettes. Her eyes are deep blue as well, while her lip color is a deep bluish violet, and her eyelids are dusted with a touch of blue eye shadow. She wears a gold choker highlighted by a purple jewel around her neck and a pair of gold pearl earrings on her ears, and on her right arm near her shoulder is an unfamiliar tattoo, seemingly resembling a whirlpool. Her top is a deep rose pink color, with a purple stripe sewn around the bodice's top hem. Her tail alternates colors of cool blue and purple until it gradients to a deep purple fin, and is accessorized with an extremely short red skirt held in place by a gold belt accented with purple and white pearls and equipped with a purple buckle highlighted by a pastel purple gemstone.

Personality[]

Talleigha is openly and unduly rude, cynical, narcissistic, egotistical, disrespectful, stubborn, prideful, and, like many other merpeople, distrustful of strangers and outsiders, especially humans. Despite such negative qualities, she is idolized by many of the merpeople in Pacifica for her vast usage and knowledge of various elemental powers, namely, Sareena, who was once her closest supporter until an argument with her during the games. After being chosen to compete in the games that will determine the next Power Keeper, she displays a sense of entitlement and a super-competitive attitude, which compels her to stop at nothing to win and believe that any obstacle she can get out of her way will give her a winning edge, as shown when she attacks Malibu and nearly kills her upon gaining her Fire powers. Also, she expresses undue dislike for those who disagree with her and question her regarding her actions, and refuses to admit when she's wrong. Instead, she considers anyone not on her side an enemy or an obstacle in her way of the glory she believes she rightfully deserves. When she sees Aquaryah awaken as the new Power Keeper, however, she seems to soften her attitude and abandon her desire for the role, especially after seeing Aquaryah's use of power up close.
