Cassidy Merteuil
Cassidy Merteuil (Kristina Anapau) is a spoiled little rich girl. She is extremely beautiful but has little patients for people and situations that don’t go her way.
Cassidy is attending an exclusive Santa Barbara college. At the beginning of the movie she is pursuing a relationship with a British prince however her plans go awry when she is seduced by Patrick Bates (Nathan Wetherington). The seduction is part of a bet between Patrick and Jason Argyle (Kerr Smith).
Jason and Cassidy have a burning sexual chemistry that they both dare not give into as they are both masters of sexual seduction. So throughout the movie they both seduce and bed a number of sexual partners while making wanting glances at each other.
Their sexual antics are extremely hurtful to the people tricked into taking part in them. But these are the kinds of high stakes seduction games played by these incredibly rich 20-somethings.
Jason helps Cassidy learn to swing
Cassidy later encourages Jason and Patrick to compete against each other and a game of seduction. Patrick is not really one of the brat pack and doesn’t really fit in with these high stakes game. In order to win the bet he forces himself on Alison (Melissa Yvonne Lewis) after she rejects him and he is later charged with rape.
Cassidy and Jason believing that they are of a better class than the tormented Patrick continue to make sexual bets even after Patrick is led away by police.

- Despite its name, the film has almost no relation to the previous films in the series, except for the shared themes and the lead character in this film, Cassidy Merteuil, who is a cousin of one of the characters from the first film, Kathryn Merteuil.
- “Cruel Intentions 3” is the third in a series of movies on seduction and sexual manipulation. The main character Cassidy Merteuil (Kristina Anapau) has the same last name as the main character in the first two “Cruel Intentions” movies which featured a woman named Kathryn Merteuil.
- The series is based on the 1782 French novel “Les Liaisons dangereuses” {Dangerous Liaisons} by Choderlos de Laclos, which featured the social and sexual manipulations of a woman named the Marquise Isabelle de Merteuil.
- Sarah Michelle Gellar played Kathryn Merteuil in the first “Cruel Intentions” movie (1999). And Amy Adams played Kathryn Merteuil in the prequel “Cruel Intentions 2: Manchester Prep” (2000).
