Cinderella is the primary antagonist of Living Legends: Crystal Tear with her past self serving as an ally to Jannet Carrol, the game's protagonist. She was a sorceress who sought revenge against her step-family for not only ruining her happiness but also killing the love of her life, the prince.
Story[]
Cinderella lived in the Crystal Kingdom with her step-family consisting of a pair of mother and daughter, the latter whose name was Amalia, after the death of her father. The wicked stepmother and Amalia tormented Cinderella and made her their scullery maid, which Cinderella endured. One day, Cinderella received an invitation from the royal ball held by the prince. Jealous of her stepdaughter's beauty, the stepmother tore Cinderella's invitation and left for the party with Amalia, leaving the tearful Cinderella to look after the house.
Heartbroken, Cinderella ran away, crying, to the town's crystal mine, and found a pair of beautiful slippers inside the cave. After trying on the slippers, Cinderella realizes its magical potential and uses its power to create a carriage with horses and give herself a new dress so that she can go to the ball and meet the prince. Once she arrived at the ball, Cinderella and the prince fell in love at first sight and spend the wonderful evening together, with both knowing that they wanted the rest of their life with each others. However, Cinderella knew that the magic of the slippers will not last past midnight, and fled the palace, but not before leaving one of the slippers behind so that the prince may find her.
The day after, when Cinderella heard that the prince was searching for her, she prepared to go to the castle and met him, but was stopped by the evil stepmother who noticed her crystal slipper. Cinderella's slipper was then stolen by her stepmother who then locked her in the closet. By the time that Cinderella managed to escape, the prince was about to marry Amalia, who had the fake crystal slippers as a proof of identity created by the fairy godmother Jane, the royal adviser who did it at the request of the stepmother. Jane did it because she feared and believed Cinderella to be an evil sorceress, as the girl was able to utilize the crystal slippers' power, which was originally created by her but stolen and used by her own evil and envious younger sister Charlotte, forcing her to hid it away in the mine as she was unable to destroy it after Charlotte's arrest. When Cinderella arrived at the castle, the evil stepmother ordered the guards to capture Cinderella and locked her away in the abandoned mine.
Unknown to Cinderella at time, the greedy stepmother proceeded to poison the prince to death shortly after the wedding when he realized that he had been tricked by the evil women, which allowed Amalia to ascend to the throne and become queen regnant, giving her and her mother all the authorities and richness of the kingdom. While imprisoned, Cinderella came across the remnant of magic crystal in the mine, allowing her to hone her magic skill and power, but even with those abilities she was still unable to escape. Wanting to fulfill her goal of revenge and take back all happiness she deserved, Cinderella created a second pair of crystal slippers and passed away in loneliness, with her vengeful spirit possessing the crystal slippers and waiting for the opportunity to arrive.
A few decades after Amalia's ruling, Prince Nicholas, the current heir to the throne, was about to marry Anna, a good friend of the Jannet. Before their wedding, the castle maid Lucille broke the fake slippers that once belonged to Amalia when she secretly tried it on. Fearing for her punishment, Lucille went to Gerald, her boyfriend and blacksmith, and asked him to craft another pair of slippers in the broken one's place. Gerald went into the mine to find the remaining magic crystal, but instead found Cinderella's pair of slippers, and took it to Lucille who used them to replace the old pairs. The slippers were eventually given to Anna for her to try them on as part of the tradition created by Amalia. However, the moment that one of the slippers touched Anna's foot, Cinderella's spirit resurfaced and try to possess her as she freeze the rest of castle's residents including Nicholas into crystal, forcing the fairy godmother to hide the other slipper inside the mirror to stall the curse. Unfortunately for the fairy godmother, both Anna and the arrived Jannet believed that they can stop the curse by retrieving the other hidden slipper, proceeded to do so and put it on Anna's other foot, allowing Cinderella to complete her possession. After thanking Jannet for her "assistance", the evil Cinderella revealed her goal of changing the past and taking back what belonged to her, before attacking the protagonist with more crystal projectiles and making her leave to go prepare to use her time magic at the town's clock tower.
By the time Jannet learned about Cinderella's history and caught up with her with the help of Cinderella's victims, Cinderella had finished her mechanization and proceeded to travel back to the past on the day that her prince married Amalia, with Jannet quickly following behind. In the past, where the time was stopped due to the future Cinderella's power, Jannet ran into the past Cinderella who had just arrived at the prince's wedding. The past Cinderella was horrified after she had learned from Jannet about her future self's goal of killing her stepmother and Amalia to take back the prince and her own happiness, and decided to help Jannet stop her. With the power of the Magic Wand from the fairy godmother of the past, Cinderella used her sorceress power to fight against her evil future self, claiming that even though she did want to take back her happiness she wouldn't want to destroy any life.
Ultimately, the good Cinderella emerged victorious in the battle with a help from Jannet, destroying the evil Cinderella's spirit and freeing Anna from her possession. Before the time started again, Cinderella opened a portal for Jannet and Anna to go back to their future, telling them that even though she wanted to change her destiny and be with her beloved prince, she wouldn't want to destroy Anna's own happiness with Nicholas, and that she promised to not seek vengeance or harm them ever again. As Cinderella was able to be taken away by the guards at the stepmother's order, Jannet and Anna, unable to let Cinderella suffering once again, pulled her from the guards and took her back to the future along with them. Arriving at the future, Cinderella then gave the Magic Wand to the fairy godmother of the present, allowing her to undo the remaining curse, and finally allowing Anna and Nicholas to marry with everyone's blessing. Though Cinderella had lost the love of her life, she now had a chance to start over with a support from her new and wonderful friends.
