The redeemed vengeful Srikate

Chao Srikate (Thanyareth Engtrakul) is a remorseful and redeemed primary villainess of 2009 Thai Drama Sap Phusa. She was a spirit of a fallen princess who vowed to curse Preechaya, Thavit, and Maneekanya, for eternity, after Lord Thad (Thavit's previous life) spurned her love and married Lady Chai (Preechaya's previous life), and Lady Choam (Maneekanya's previous life) for ruining her life in the worst way possible, through her cursed garment and later through possessing Maiphim, the heroine of the drama.

Plot[]

Srikate was a princess of a small kingdom at war with ancient Thailand. After her father lost the war, Srikate and her grandfather were stripped of their wealth and royalty, but allowed to live in a small but otherwise luxurious house in the kingdom, along with Pheu, her only remaing loyal handmaiden and good friend. Due to her status as captive, Srikate was cruelly bullied by other noblewomen, one of them being the haughty Lady Chom, the older sister of the kind-hearted Lady Chai. Despite that, Srikate endured, and became one of the most talented seamstresses in the land, having woven many beautiful garments and clothings.

The beautiful Srikate eventually met and fell in love with Lord Thad, a son of minor nobility, with Pheu acting as the matchmaker. Lord Thad was a womanizer with many lovers, and that he actually was in love with Lady Chai (whom Srikate viewed as her rival), seeing Srikate as "temporary love interest". Srikate eventually became pregnant with Lord Thad's child and both of them was discovered by Srikate's grandfather. Though her grandfather was furious at first, Srikate calmed him down and explained to her grandfather that half of the reason (apart from love) that she wanted to marry into Lord Thad's family was because she wanted to help restored her family's legacy. Her grandfather, though now understanding Srikate's motive, warned her that should this plan fell, Sri Kate would be living the live of shame like her father before her who failed to become a hero to protect his own kingdom, which Srikate accepted. Srikate started to wove the "Golden Fabric", intending to use it in her marriage with Lord Thad.

Soon after, Srikate realized that Lord Thad's marriage promise would never come true, as his mother was against him marrying a fallen princess and a captive, and that he was trying to woo for Lady Chai's heart. Seeing her mistress heartbroken, Pheu visited a sorcerer and hired him to create two pair of cursed dolls: one to make Lord Thad and Lady Chai hate each other, the other to make Lord Thad become enamoured with Srikate. The spell was successful, and Lord Thad rejected Lady Chai and took Srikate into his house, much to the anger of his mother and Lady Chom. The two women eventually sought a help from a powerful monk to dispell to the love curse and expose Srikate's scheme. After the pairs of cursed dolls was destroyed, Pheu was executed for taking part in the sorcery, but Lady Chai pleaded to the court for Srikate's life, citing that Srikate was pregnant. Though the court accepted Lady Chai's plea, Srikate was only allowed to live until she gave birth to her child, who will be given to Lady Chai. After hearing the court's decision, Srikate's grandfather passed away from shock, much to Srikate's despair.

Heartbroken that she had now lost everything, including Lord Thad who coldly informed her of her awaiting fate, Srikate devoted her remaining day to finish her Golden Fabric until she finally succeeded. Not wanting to give up her child to Lady Chai, and full of vengeance against her, Lord Thad, and Lady Chom, Srikate enchanted her Golden Fabric with the graveyard dirt, a strand of her hair, and a drop of her blood, cursing it with a powerful spell that will allow her spirit to remain in this world and follow the three forever and to their reincarnations. Srikate then committed suicide and hung herself to complete her curse. With her spirit now remained in the Fabric, Srikate possessed and caused Lady Chai and her next two reincarnations to always die on her wedding day with Lord Thad and his reincarnations, caused Lord Thad and his next two reincarnations to suffer misfortune that disabled his legs and deprived him ability to walk, and caused Lady Chom and her next two reincarnations to become insane.

After the repeated tragedies, Lady Noi, a minor noble and the keeper of the Fabric, tasked her handmaiden Rata who was the last in line to receive the garment, to securely lock away it so that no one may suffer again. Unknown to the two, handmaiden Talub, a co-worker of Rata, stole the Golden Fabric along with several priceless treasures and ran away to get married. Rata herself eventually left the palace and had a family of her own, with Pachorn, the hero of the drama, and Maneekanya, Lady Chom's present day reincarnation as her grandchildren. Meneekanya was a friend of Preechaya, Lady Chai's present day reincarnation, and Thavit, Lord Thad's present day reincarnation and Preechaya's fiance. Preechaya also employed Maiphim, a girl who was well-known and full of knowledge of embroideries and clothing, as her shop "Golden Fabric"'s employee.
