Serial thief Maya Hartman
Maya Hartman (Haley Ramm) was a minor recurring character and later revealed villainess from Notorious. She was the daughter of Dana Hartman, whom she was estranged from due to being absent for most of her childhood after losing her job as "Louise Herrick Live". Despite this, she rented a house from her mother, sharing it with three of her friends: Preston Mann, Willow Ferrera, and Johnny Weston. Unbeknownst to her mother, Maya was in a relationship with Johnny, though the deeper love she had for him was unreciprocated.
During the episode, Johnny was found dead in the house's pool by Maya, who subsequently became a suspect when gunshot residue was found on her hands. She was additionally suspected when Dana revealed that Maya had written in her journal (later revealed to be a "burn book" of the thoughts Maya didn't want to act on) that she wanted to kill Johnny and that Dana had had a tryst with Johnny.
Later on, though, it was uncovered that Maya and her roommates had been behind a string of burglaries committed against famous celebrities, having been dubbed "The Bling Ring". After a search warrant was issued and the stolen items were found, Maya and her accomplices were arrested and brought in for questioning. Jake Gregorian, Maya's lawyer, tried to get her to agree to testify against Willow and Preston for a deal, but Maya refused, saying that her friends were the only family she had. But later on, Willow and Preston gave the police Maya's journal and claimed she had killed Johnny, resulting in Maya's arrest.
In the preceding episode, "Choice", Maya was imprisoned, where the distraught and despondent girl attempted suicide by hanging herself in her cell. Her innocence in Johnny's murder was definitively proven when Willow recanted her accusation against Maya and Dana confessed on live television that she had been Johnny's killer. The ending of the series finale, "Taken", had Jake calling Julia George, the producer of "Louise Herrick Live" and an old friend of both Maya and Dana's, to inform her that Maya's car had been found abandoned and the police believed Maya to have killed herself by jumping into a river.
