Lucy Diamond (Debby Ryan) is a minor (later redeemed) villainess from "The Mystery of the Unknown Caller", episode 2.15 of The Mysteries of Laura (airdate February 24, 2016). She was the half-sister of series protagonist Laura Diamond, having been the product of their father Leo's affair with a paralegal. Lucy was a well-documented delinquent and troublemaker, which made her estranged from her older half-sibling. By the events of the episode, Lucy was in a relationship with Ian Gendry, working alongside him in his business of selling counterfeit prescription drugs, which resulted in the deaths of nine people.
Prior to the episode's events, Lucy and Ian stole money from drug kingpin Jimmy Chun. When Chun found out, he placed a hit on Ian, who was murdered by one of his henchmen in the episode's opening. Laura discovered Ian's body due to him calling her right before being killed, and she found out about her sister's connection to him after finding a photo booth strip of pictures of the two of them in his hotel room. Laura was able to track Lucy down to a mall where she was trying to obtain a ride share to her and Laura's aunt's apartment (her being away at the time), where Laura caught her after Lucy attempted to flee.
Laura handcuffed Lucy to a table to inform her about her predicament and convince her to come with her to stay safe, with Lucy expressing heartbreak upon learning about Ian's death. After her and Ian's drug business was uncovered, Lucy confessed to her role in the scheme, claiming she hadn't known the drugs were fake and that she hadn't realized she and Ian were in too deep until it was too late to back out. She additionally revealed that she had stashed the money they stole from Chun in Leo's apartment, infuriating Laura. But after confessing, Lucy pointed out that Laura had never read her her Miranda rights, thus meaning Lucy wouldn't face any charges for her crimes.
But afterwards, Lucy assisted Laura in making a case against Chun, even going undercover to help take down his nefarious operation. In the series finale, "The Mystery of the End of Watch", Lucy's redemption continued after she moved in with Laura, taking an active role in helping with her sons and giving her advice about her conflicting relationship with her ex-husband, Jake Broderick.
