Remorseful villainess Judy Carlton
Judy Carlton (Adriane Lenox) is the secondary villainess of "Rockabye", episode 7.09 of Law & Order: SVU (airdate November 22, 2005). She was a nurse for the Manhattan Women's Sexual Health Clinic, which was run by Dr. Lett. In actuality, though, the clinic was fradulant and Dr. Lett was a pro-life fanatic who opened the fake clinic to prevent abortions. Judy assisted in the scheme at the villainous doctor's insistence.
When pregnant teenager Lauren Westley came to the clinic, Judy and Dr. Lett delayed giving her an appointment until she passed 24 weeks of pregnancy, which would make it impossible for her to have an abortion. Judy even altered Lauren's temperature at one point to claim that her fever was why she couldn't receive an abortion. Judy was heavily distressed by Lauren's desperation, and became emotional when she would call the clinic daily, but continued deceiving Lauren under Dr. Lett's order.
When Lauren became so desperate that she had her boyfriend and her baby's father Wayne Mortens beat her to terminate the pregnancy, Judy was asked to take the stand during Wayne's trial after the true nature of Dr. Lett's clinic was discovered. As she testified to what she and Dr. Lett had done, Judy became tearful and showed her deep remorse for what she had done to Lauren. She also revealed that, while she was still against abortion, she had quit her job at the clinic due to disagreeing with Dr. Lett going further than simply presuading women against abortions. Judy was presumably arrested along with Dr. Lett.
