Daphne Tucker (Bridget Regan) is the hidden villainess of "Keep the Change", episode 1.05 of New Amsterdam (airdate March 24, 2008). She was the wife of councilman Ben Tucker and helped found Big Apple Shelters, an improved set of homeless shelters. She was aided by rock star Chris Duncan, a man with addiction problems of his own who held a benefit to raise enough money to start Daphne's program.
Later on, it was also revealed that Chris was Daphne's lover, and the two were together when Daphne accidentally struck and killed 9-year-old Jason Brown with her car. The next day, Daphne told Ben and wanted to turn herself in to the police, but Ben convinced her not to, saying he would "take care of it". It was then that Ben enlisted his bodyguard Bob to kill Chris to silence him, as well as Ollie, a homeless man who Chris had told about the incident.
Detectives John Amsterdam and Eva Marqeuz investigated the deaths, and eventually learned the connection to Jason Brown's death and the fact that Ben's black SVU (which a witness reported seeing on the night of the accident) had been reported stolen the same night and was later found stripped. John then realized that Daphne had been Chris's lover and picked her up to interrogate her. He then proceeded to stand in the middle of the road while questioning her, eventually goading her to confess to killing Jason as he stood in the path of an oncoming car while shedding tears of remorse.
Ben was later interrogated as Daphne watched, with her being upset to see Ben try to pin the whole blame on her. When Ben came out, Daphne revealed that John had lied about her confessing to everything and called him out on turning against her. After it was revealed that Bob had confessed to killing Chris and Ollie under Ben's orders, he and Daphne were both placed under arrest.
