Marie Dixon aka Bethany (Eva Hamilton) is the main antagonist in the 2020 lifetime movie Revenge for Daddy, also called Looking for Mr. Wonderful.
Backstory[]
Marie was the daughter of Tom Clark and her drug addicted mother. Marie's mother was revealed not to be good to Tom and she finally fell in love with another man and left him, taking Marie with her.
However the man she chose to be with was abusive and Marie's mother finally fatally succumbed to her drug habit.
Marie snapped and shot her mother's boyfriend at the age of 17. She was then arrest and convicted of murder serving 20 years in prison. However she got released after 15 for good behaviour and found out that her father had divorced her mother, had married again to woman named Barbara and now had a younger half-sister named Lisa (the main protagonist), therefore making her jealous as Lisa was having the life that she felt she herself had deserved.
Marie harboured resentment towards her father for her troubled life and for her actions, possibly ignoring the fact that the whole thing had been because of her mother's behavior and choices or was under the delusion that her mother was just an innocent victim.
She took on the alias of Bethany and tracked Tom down outside his house, and ran him down in her car, killing him.
Events[]
Marie first appears in the film as Lisa's co-worker and she was a chilly friendship with her, as Lisa's then-boyfriend Bobby (a police officer) cheated on Lisa with Marie (among other women). All the while, Marie's villainous past remained hidden for the past year, and she was shown expressing her perceived regret to Lisa over hooking up with Bobby, though she also used her hacking skills to set up Lisa on a date with Michael Patterson. Later on, Marie noticed that Nina was working on the case regarding Lisa's father, with Nina voicing her enthusiasm with true crime stories, while also informing Bethany that she had solved the case.
Afterwards, Marie turned heel once again and planned to kill Nina, with her latest murderous scheme taking place during the group's night out. Her plan involved framing Lisa, as she drugged Lisa's drink before stabbing Nina to death outside the nightclub. Lisa woke up next to Nina's body, and expressed shock over seeing that she had been killed, but she ended up arrested for the murder due to Marie's actions. Lisa ended up placed on house arrest while the investigation progressed, though Lisa and her friend Abby returned to the scene of Nina's murder to see if the former could remember what occurred. Marie then returned to her workplace after learning that Lisa phoned her boss, Ethan, regarding Nina's computer; donning a masked and hooded disguise before knocking out Ethan with a fire extinguisher. Shortly afterwards, she pursued Lisa while wielding a knife, though she escaped once Detective Willis arrived at the scene and fired shots at the masked villainess.
Reveal and Death[]
Michael ended up arrested due to Marie placing his business card at the scene of Ethan's attack, though Bobby did some digging into her (as Lisa and Abby) suggested, and he revealed her true identity with Barbara stating that she had known about Marie being her husband's daughter from his first marriage. The film's climax saw Marie enter Lisa's home and pistol-whip Abby before tying her and Barbara up, after which she lashed out at Barbara for taking Tom away from her, destroying her family and that her deceased father had got what he deserved. Barbara angrily retorted that her mother was to blame for her drug addiction, leaving Tom and being with another man, but Marie refused to listen and gagged Barbara to stop anymore of her "lies".
Lisa and Ethan returned home to find Abby and Barbara tied up, after which Marie emerged and held them both at gunpoint. The deranged Marie boldly confessed to killing her and Lisa's father, adding that he deserved to be killed. Lisa retorted that their father had been good to Marie and her mother, but Marie's mother had been nothing but unkind to him. Not wanting to hear this, Marie angrily ordered her to be quiet while adding that Lisa had everything that she felt she should of had and would now kill the others and frame Lisa. Abby managed to dial 911 while being tied up, though it was at that moment that Detective Willis arrived, after which Marie ordered Lisa to send her away. Willis ended up entering after she was told that a 911 call came from the house, and that it was Abby who called, and it was at that moment that Marie appeared with her gun in hand. Willis ignored Marie's order to let go of her gun, and ended up shot by the villainess (non-fatally) when she was about to unleash her gun. After the shot, Bobby entered and ordered his ex-girlfriend to drop the weapon, but when Marie refused, she ended up shot multiple times and killed by both Bobby and Willis.
