Traci Kwon

Deceased (and redeemed) villainess Traci Kwon

Traci Kwon (Yin Chang) was the tertiary (redeemed) villainess from "Offense," episode 7.08 of Law & Order:  Criminal Intent (airdate November 29, 2007).

Traci Kwon was posthumously introduced as a key witness in a high profile rape case against members of the Newell college football team. The case had three members of the team accused of raping Carla Sanchez, a stripper who danced at one of their parties, with Traci--a fellow stripper--serving as a witness. It was led to believe that Traci was also raped, but an autopsy revealed that Traci was a virgin. After Carla and Traci's statements were revealed to be exactly identical, it was concluded that no rape occurred at the hands of the players.

Carla confessed in her interrogation that her ex-boyfriend, Omar, raped her after ending things with him, but she was seeing him during her relationship with Benjy Alvarado. Because of this, Carla hid the truth from him, and after being treated badly by the players at the party, Carla decided to falsely accuse the players of raping her, with Traci backing up the false claim under Carla's request. However, Traci--being an Evangelical--couldn't go through with falsely testifying on Carla's behalf and planned to recant her story, but she was pushed down a flight of stairs and killed by the mother of one of the accused before she could get the chance.

Trivia[]

  • Traci Kwon is similar to Wendy Stroud, a murder victim/villainess from Monk's series finale. Both women were participants in villainous deceptions, but planned to reveal the truth due to their religious beliefs. One difference is that Wendy accepted a bribe to do so, while Traci wasn't paid, and while both of them ended up killed, the difference in that regard is that Wendy was killed by her main co-conspirator who knew that she was going to reveal the truth; Traci was killed by someone who believed she would keep her lie alive.
