Villainous teacher Penny Miller

Penny Miller (Miranda Frigon) is the main (redeemed) villainess from the 2014 Hallmark film, A Cookie Cutter Christmas (airdate November 9, 2014). She is an elementary school teacher and the rival of fellow teacher (and main protagonist) Christie Reynolds.

Penny and Christie's shared backstory revealed that they were best friends as kids, but their friendship ended during their school's Christmas recital, when during a performance of "Silent Night," Penny stole Christie's lyrics. Since then, their friendship became a competitive rivalry, with Penny being obsessed with topping Christie. The rivalry was in full display when James Thompson came into town with daughter, Lily, a new student being transferred into the school.

Penny was also the chairperson of the annual holiday festival, which included a bake-off between the school's teachers. She mocked Christie entering the contest, and was shocked when Christie reached the final three with herself and Mr. Peters. The two teachers became finalists later on, with Penny continuing her attempts to upstage Christie, not only by attempting to get close to James, but also by performing "Silent Night" at a gathering--while boasting about her solo, which later became a duet when Christie inserted herself into the performance.

After the event, Penny interrupted James and Christie and learned that the latter was taking lessons from the former, but would used her own recipes. Once Christie informed Penny that she would be making something with peppermint, Penny began devising her plan to sabotage Christie's chances with James, which began with visiting James at his home. She later spotted James' book containing his recipes and stole one of them--one for peppermint drops--and also verbally depicted Christie as a person who is obsessed with winning. On the day of the contest, Penny placed James' recipe on Christie's table, and sent James to check on it, allowing him to see the recipe and believe that Christie took it. Christie won the contest, but James indirectly voiced his disappointment in her, completing Penny's evil plan.

A dejected Christie showed Penny a photo of the two of them as kids and friends, and following this, Penny became remorseful regarding her actions. At the end of the film, after Christie donated her winnings to James' charity, Penny confessed to her deed to James, and later approached Christie and apologized for stealing her lyrics during their performance years ago.
