Diane Torrance (Erica Cerra) is the main villainess from "Deception," episode 2.04 of Motive (airdate June 11, 2014). She is a construction worker and a single mother, who brutally murdered coroner Stan Matthews at a parking garage. Diane's motive for the murder was revenge; Matthews was responsible for Diane's husband, John, being convicted in the death of their 4-year-old son.
Diane proclaimed John's innocence during her interrogation with Angie Flynn, stating that she and John were not abusive parents. When she visited John in prison, she had seen him attacked and murdered by a group of inmates who were labelling him a "baby killer." John's death made Diane vengeful, and she sought out Matthews at a parking garage and stabbed him to death, blaming him for John's incarceration and death. Diane was arrested for murdering Matthews, but not before claiming that Matthews "took the law into his own hands."
