Daphne Blake (Heather North; 1945-2017) is a redeemed villainess from "To All the Ghouls I've Loved Before," the pilot episode of 1985's The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo.
History[]
Daphne Blake is one of the members of the Mysteries Inc. group, and became the group's leader beginning with The New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show in 1983. In the episode, the gang crash landed at the Himalayas, where they walk into a tavern inhabited by people with a dark secret: they are cursed to turn into werewolves under a full moon. Daphne takes a sip of what is revealed to be freshly squeezed wolfsbane, which Scrappy states turns people into werewolves, but Daphne rebuffed the claim. However, the townspeople all turned into werewolves, much to Shaggy and Scooby's shock.
Heel Turn and Later Redemption[]
At that moment, Daphne began turning heel when she was shown in front of the full moon beginning her own werewolf transformation. She grew hair and claws on her hands, her face became animalistic, her fangs elongated, and her muzzle extended. Following her transformation, Daphne cemented her heel persona and joined the other werewolves against the rest of the gang. The transformed villainess snarled at Shaggy and Scooby before the pair escaped the tavern and entered a pothole with Film Flam and Scrappy. However, the evil Daphne followed the group into the pothole and continued snarling at them, but at that moment, Flim Flam drenched Daphne with his "Lotsa Luck Joy Juice," which turned Daphne back into her human form.
Trivia[]
- As a werewolf, Daphne had a full wolf-like face and head, but maintained her hairstyle. She also continued wearing her lavender outfit, but walked on her bare wolf paws.
- Daphne's villainous werewolf persona served as the very first villainess from The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo.
