Stazi (Angela Gots) is a minor villainess in the 2005 DTV action film "Black Dawn" starring Steven Seagal.
She is a member of a Chechen resistance group. Although making a relatively innocent impression and being in love with group leader Nicholi, she is ready to kill and die for the cause and in the end proves to be just as ruthless and deadly as the rest of the group.
Plot[]
After their leader Aslan Masklov, whose plan it was to purchase a nuclear device and blow up L.A., has been taken out by what they believe to be CIA assassins (in reality, it was Anthony Greer, who draws the strings in the background in order to make the group act on planting the bomb), the three remaining members of Chechen resistance group are led by the much younger and inexperienced Nicholi.
Stazi is one of the members, and Nicholi's girlfriend. In her first scene, she rides with the others in a car towards L.A. Upon their arrival, they rob a jewelery store and kill everyone in the process. Stazi is only active at the beginning of the robbery when she quickly takes a gun out of a nonplussed security guard's holster and points it at the people in the store to keep them in check. Later, she leaves with the others. With the diamonds from the vault, they plan to pay for the device.
During the trade with the criminals for the device, the Chechen group and the criminals are surprised by their supposed nuclear expert Jonathan Cold (Steven Seagal) turning the tables on them. He saves CIA agent Amanda Walker, his former protegé, by shooting his way out. Stazi immediately takes cover behind a desk, only shooting now and then safely from her cover, and thus is spared the fate of her more aggressive collaborator Julia, who remains out in the open only to be dropped by Cold with a headshot.
Later, while the Chechen group are preparing the device, Stazi starts to doubt whether it's the right time for them to strike as they have run into several serious issues. "We vowed to be martyrs! Not corpses without a cause", she says. Nicholi, however, does not give in to her doubts and sticks to the plan.
In the finale, Stazi has her most prominent scene. Posing as a girl who has forgotten her key and wants to go up to her father's loft, she tricks the night porter of a downtown skyscraper into letting her into the building.
Once inside, she distracts him, pretty-pleasing him to buzz her father. As he turns sideways to look him up, asking "What's your dad's name?", Stazi draws her silenced pistol and shoots him, licking her lips. She then answers, "Bob".
After letting Nicholi in, she calls the elevator and gets impatient when it does not arrive. The elevators seem to be out of order, so they get ready to detonate the device right there on the ground floor, in front of the elevators. In a moment of elated self-awareness, she looks at Nicholi, saying, "We did it!", and when he says, "In moments, we'll be heroes", she smiles and moves over to give him a long and loving kiss. As she turns back to the bomb, Nicholi suddenly gets shot out of nowhere. Stazi squawks and looks up in astonishment only to get shot herself in the chest by Greer, who has come to take control of the bomb.
Her body lies on the floor next to Nicholi, who survived the shot and is now tortured by Greer; after Greer in turn gets shot by Cold, Nicholi manages to set off the bomb's ticker moments before dying. In time, however, Cold drops the bomb from a chopper into the sea, where it detonates without doing the intended damage.
