Sheila Forbes (Randi Brooks) is the hidden villainess in the 1986 episode “Dead Pigeon” for the TV series “The New Mike Hammer”.
Mike Hammer (Stacy Keach) fakes a fight with Eddie Forbes (Rick Goldman), a friend who is an undercover narcotics cop in order for some thugs to move on from doing bad things to him. Later his friend is found dead in an alley, and Hammer is framed for his murder. Eddie’s wife, Sheila Forbes, also happens to be Hammer’s former girlfriend, so there was plenty of motive.
After posting bail, Hammer showed up at Eddie’s apartment and found a frightened Sheila with a pistol. She told him he didn’t believe he killed Eddie. She said that Eddie’s cover had been blown and people were coming for both Eddie and her. Hammer explained that the leader of the thugs he saw at the club was Victor Ross (Larry Grant). As they continued talking, several bullets came through the window.
At the court hearing, it was obvious that Hammer was being framed by the owner of the club, Carlie Jameson (Jennifer Rhodes) and the arriving officer, Peggy Ryan (Robin Curtis). As a result, the judge found enough evidence to bring the case to trial.
After the hearing, Hammer went looking for Peggy Ryan and was beaten up by cops after going into Murphy’s Bar by order of Sergeant Cramer (John Mahon).
Hammer then showed up at Peggy’s apartment who was drinking herself into an early grave. He found out that Peggy was forced to testify because she was being blackmailed. However, before she could tell him who it was, she was shot by a sniper from the top of a building.
Hammer then found a man named Lloyd Carmody (Christopher Stone) who could testify that he saw Eddie Forbes still alive in the alley after Hammer left him. He was afraid to tell the truth because he was running for congress and didn’t want people to know he was at the club.
Upon arriving at his apartment, Hammer found Sheila preparing dinner for him. She still had a key to his apartment, so she let herself in. Sheila explained that things had not been going well between her and Eddie. In addition, they had not been legally married, but she had taken his last name for appearances.
Peggy’s partner Tom Crandall (Kenneth Snell) ended up washing ashore near the Statue of Liberty and Hammer was called away to the scene of the crime. He had also testified against Mike at the trial. Captain Chambers told Hammer that his witness, Carmody had filed a restraining order against him, saying that he was being harassed. Now Hammer had no witness again.
Back at his apartment, Sheila had set up a candlelight dinner. She then gave him a massage and told him that she missed him and proceeded in stripping down and seducing him.
The next morning when Hammer attempted to leave, a gunman shot through the front door at him. Sheila came running with a towel wrapped around herself. After catching up to the gunman, he found that he worked for Victor Ross and that it was him who killed Peggy and Crandall. Hammer used the thug as bait to find Ross.
Upon returning to his apartment, he found Sheila in her nightgown. She acted surprised to see him, and Hammer told her that the gig was up. Sheila had hired the gunman and her plan was to eliminate Hammer. Hammer had uncovered that she was in cahoots with Victor Ross. Ross had hired her since she had been close to Eddie and could burn him.
Sheila pretended to be crying and grabbed a pistol from her purse. She told Hammer that she didn’t know they were going to kill Eddie. Sheila then embraced Hammer telling him that they could have it all again. She then raised the pistol behind Hammer’s back, and before she could pull the trigger she was shot by Mike who was hiding his gun in his pocket. Before walking out of his apartment, he covered her body in his jacket.
