Michael and KITT investigate a series of suspicious brush fires with the help of SID, a surveillance droid.
While on ranger duty, Michael and K.I.T.T. rescue a young kid named Darryl from a forest fire. When Darryl subsequently gets
framed for arson, Michael sets out to prove the boy's innocence.
The real arsonist Wells who's setting forest fires with a Monster Truck which shoots flames to cover a major drug deal eludes Michael by escaping over rugged terrain where KITT can't maneuver. Michael enlists the help of Sandra Rusk (Nana Visitor)
to clear the boy and catch the real arsonist.In reality Sandra is working with Wells as she tries to throw Michael off the track.Michael uses the help of SID disguised as a soccer ball to infiltrate Wells camp. The surveillance droid is discovered and
destroyed as Michael and Kitt raid the camp taking down the drug gang.Wells and Sandra try to escape in the Monster Truck with Michael and Kitt in pursuit.Kitt cuts in front of the the Monster Truck and faces it. Wells shoots flames from the truck to try to destroy Kitt.Michael turns on the CO2 knocking out the flames.Wells tries ramming into Kitt instead flipping the truck over.Wells and Sandra crawl out of the truck shaken but not seriously injured and are arrested and turned over to the authorities.
