Rei Ryghts (Kiseijou Rei キセイジョウ・レイ) was a maniacal despot who sought to destroy the world of Gamindustri. Appeared in Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation (超次元ゲイム ネプテューヌ) episodes 11 & 12. Page focus is Rei Ryghts goddess form in anime.
Series Set-Up[]
The world of Gamindustri is protected by four CPUs that are the personifications of game consoles. Neptune protects the nation of Planeptune (Sega), Noire protects Lastation (PlaySation), Blanc protects Lowee (Wii), and Vert protects Leanbox (Xbox). These Four CPUs (each with human and powerful goddess form) are righteously fighting each other for "shares" in the Console War. Shares are the manifestation of the belief citizens put into their goddess, and without shares, a goddess dies.
They are primarily opposed by the villainess Arfoire (representing piracy) who’s goal is to destroy all the CPUs and rule Gamindustri herself.
Story[]
In the city of Neptunia, Rei Ryghts is a young social activist handing out flyers protesting the CPUs who protect, but also rule the nations of Gamindustri. Rei is meek and frail, barely to get anyone to listen to her.
Later Rei is involved in a plot, along with another antagonists, to kidnap and brainwash a young naïve CPU from a separate dimension to use against the four CPUs of Gamindustri. Rei insanely wonders why she’s behaving like this, having conversations with herself. This plot fails and Rei is imprisoned in Neptunia.
Rei’s true personality and memories re-emerge. She was the tyrannical CPU ruler of the lost nation of Tari (Atari). A while after creating her nation, Rei's people began to rise against her due to her maniacal despot behavior. This caused faith in her to decrease, and thus lead to the weakening of her power. Angered by the people turning on her, Rei used all her power to destroy her nation, but lost her memories in the process.
Rei breaks out of her prison cell, transform into her goddess form, and restores her nation Tari as a floating land mass to use as a weapon. Neptune, the goddess protector of Planeptune, flies up to investigate Rei and the floating nation. Rei insanely demands Planeptune's land, and its inhabitants be turned over. Neptune isn’t willing to give in to her demands, so Rei threatens to fire Tari’s huge laser cannon on the city of Neptunia.
Neptune does what she can to defeat Rei, but all her attacks are futile, as Rei is supremely powerful and surrounded by an impenetrable force filed. With Rei prepares to launch laser attack, first targeting women and children. Neptune flies in front of the Pong Laser blast stop it and blocks it, only to be then subdued and bound by Rei.
The other CPU goddesses arrive to help and figure out how Rei is getting her power. She is using a device with her Share crystal to syphon power from each nation. Rei announces that she has stolen enough Share energy for her super weapon to destroy the world, proclaiming her intentions to lay waste on everything. The others recall of the "Great Tari Crash," but Rei declares that her people stole everything from her. Feeling sorry for Rei, Neptune offers her sympathies, but Rei is unmoved. Working together the CPUs successfully destroy the Pong Laser before it reaches full power, creating an implosion that plunges the landmass back to the ground.
The CPUs surround Rei, she is undeterred, and she creates an energy spere with her remaining power to destroy Planeptune. Releasing her power, Rei causes an enormous energy blast, but the CPUs contain it. The CPUs survive but revert to their human forms. Rei also survives and still has enough power to kill the CPUs. The villainess Arfoire surprisingly arrives to stop Rei from destroying the world (she wants it for herself). Using Anti-Crystals, Arfoire obliterates Rei's Share crystal. Rei’s powers are ripped from her body, and she lifelessly collapses. Rei is defeated once and for all.
