Queen Capys (Chelo Alonso) is the evil queen in the 1961 Peplum film “Atlas in the Land of the Cyclops”, which was originally named "Maciste nella terra dei ciclopi" (Maciste in the land of the Cyclops).
Queen Capys is the descendant of the witch Circe who was defeated by Ulysses. As a result, a curse was passed down to the descendants of Ulysses. As a result, she plots a brutal revenge on the family of Ulysses for her ancestor’s defeat.
She wages war on a rival city Sadok to collect human sacrifices. Her army kills the city’s king, and takes women and children as prisoner, including the monarch’s wife. However, they fail to capture the royal couple’s only surviving son and heir. As a result, Capys uses a sword to kill the general involved in the failed mission. Capys throws many of the women into the dungeon to be sacrificed to the monstrous one-eyed Cyclops, Polifemo.
Capys goes into a dark temple cave to speak to the spirit of Circe, who tells her the only way she can break the curse is to kill the last surviving heir of Ulysses. Maciste (Gordon Mitchell) has followed her in to the cave, and saves her from a cave-in.
Maciste, aka Atlas attempts to rescue the heir and free the women and children. Upon this happening, Capys is enraged. She captures Maciste with a drug-induced potion and is forced to compete in a wild game of tug-o-war over a lions’ den.
In the end, Maciste forces Capys to take him to where Penope, Queen of Sadok (Vira Silenti) and her son are being kept. Capys is killed by a sword to the gut by her own soldier, Ifito (Dante DiPaolo).
