Penelope McDaniel (Carrie Wiita) is the main villainess of "Spoon", episode 1.04 of Lifetime's The Protector (airdate July 10, 2011). She was a friend of convicted robbers Rory Griffith and Jessica Bennett, acting as the camerawoman for the party they held on the night before they were to sentenced to prison.
It was later revealed, however, that Penelope had been one of the couple's victims, them having stolen her wedding ring during one of their robberies. Afterwards, Penelope lost her job and her fiancee broke off their engagement, leaving Penelope heartbroken and vengeful at Rory and Jessica, believing they were responsible for destroying her life.
Penelope initially planned to kill Rory and Jessica in violent revenge, but after befriending them and seeing they shared her fixation on romance, Penelope changed her plans. Instead, the evil Penelope drugged Rory and Jessica with GHB before placing them in their hotel room to die of carbon monoxide poisoning, having already tampered with the gas fireplace. In addition to that, Penelope (among other things) positioned their bodies into a spooning position in the bed.
Penelope's villainous reveal came when detectives Gloria Sheppard and Michelle Dulcett discovered Penelope's connection to Rory and Jessica in her apartment, along with immense evidence to her obsession with romance. Gloria brought Penelope in for questioning, where she claimed that they had recovered her stolen ring. At that, Penelope eventually confessed to killing Rory and Jessica, detailing how her life had fallen apart after they stole her wedding ring and was pleased when Gloria revealed how Rory and Jessica had been holding hands before they died, believing it was a sign from Rory and Jessica that she did the right thing. Penelope was arrested (offscreen) for murdering Rory and Jessica.
