Moriah Thomas

The evil vampiress, Moriah Thomas

Moriah Thomas (Julie Carmen) was the villainess from "The Bela Lugosi Blues," episode 2.13 of Diagnosis Murder (airdate January 6, 1995). She was the editor of Empire magazine, and she hosted a party honoring the magazine's Most Eligible Bachelors list, which Jack Stewart is on.

In actuality, Moriah is an evil vampiress, and she was shown in the very beginning of the episode being pursued by an unnamed vampire hunter, who she later killed and fed on. Later on, the evil Moriah killed two of the men on the Bachelors list, Vic Ddfanton and Terry Broadhurst, and with Jack having a date with Moriah, Mark Sloan advised him to break his date.

Mark had stated that Moriah's "vampirism" was all in her head, believing that it was a delusion in her mind. Once Mark confronts Moriah at her home (where her date with Jack took place), the villainess mocked Mark's claims before lifting him up and tossing him across the living room, proving that she is an actual vampire. To Mark's surprise, Moriah flew above him, smiling evilly as she looked down at Mark. Jack walked in and attempted to strike Moriah with a wooden chair, only for the object to break while leaving her without a scratch. Moriah tossed both men across the room and swooped after them, only to land on a sharp piece of the wooden chair--which went through her.

In her last breaths, Moriah confessed to the murders, revealing that she did so under the orders of Ivan Brock, as part of a scheme to cash in on a $20 million insurance policy.

Trivia

  • This was not the first time that Julie Carmen played an evil vampiress, as she played villainess Regine Dandrige in 1989's Fright Night Part II.
