The Female Villains Wiki

Monica Gordon (Taylor Cole) was the hidden villainess of the 2016 Lifetime film Below The Surface. She was a popular news reporter with her very own news show and was the daughter and criminal partner of police chief Garbaccio, aiding him in keeping his drug smuggling ring a secret. It is later revealed Garbaccio did this in order to afford to finance Monica's expensive lifestyle. They enlisted the help of warehouse employee Shane King to help cover up their illicit activities.

When warehouse employees Maria and Kelly (the latter being Shane's ex-girlfriend) grew suspicious, Garbaccio had them both killed and used Shane as a scapegoat. Monica helped aid the frame job by having Shane and his fiancee Cameron come on her show, where she revealed cell phone footage of the interview she conducted with Maria before her death revealing that she and Kelly had been romantically involved as well as the fact that they were both investigating Shane's illegal actions, fully implicating him in their deaths. She also acted as a confidante to Cameron as she tried to prove her fiancee's innocence.

Monica's villainous reveal came after the sniper that Garbaccio hired failed to kill Cameron. The sniper arrived at Garbaccio's office, where Monica was also waiting, scolding him for not being able to eliminate Cameron. When Garbaccio confronted her about her own mistakes, the smug Monica said that people would believe what she made them believe. She also countered her father's claims that he ran his illegal drug business for her by claiming he was only doing it for himself. The next morning, when Cameron called Monica and told her that she had hidden out on her boat that night, Monica went there and forced her at gunpoint to drive her boat out on the ocean. When Monica was preparing to kill her, Cameron showed her the flashdrive containing evidence of her father's business and claimed to have sent it to her sister to send out if something happened to her. She threw the flashdrive aside when Monica tried to get it, resulting in a brief struggle that Monica won. But just as she prepared to shoot Cameron, the police arrived and arrested the villainess.
