Miss Poinsettia (Monique Gabrielle) is a henchwoman in the 1989 sci-fi film “The Return of Swamp Thing”.
Miss Poinsettia is a henchwoman for Anton Arcane (Louis Jourdan). She is joined by her partner and lover, Gunn (Joe Segal) who is the muscle in the tandom.
Arcane is attempting to stave off the effects of aging, and is being assisted by Dr. Lana Zurrell (Sarah Douglas). To do so, they are combining genes from various swamp animals and human beings, creating an army of monsters known as Un-Men.
Poinsettia is first seen in the opening scene of the movie in which she uses a silencer to shoot tranquilizers into two office workers who have wandered into the jungle looking for moonshiners. The men are later used as guinea pigs by Dr. Rochelle. One survives, telling the papers about Swamp Thing (Dick Durock), who was previously transformed into a bog creature by the evil doctor.
Dr. Arcane’s stepdaughter Abby Arcane (Heather Locklear) plays a visit to the swamp laboratory to get some information on her mother. When Abby walks into the jungle without permission she meets Swamp Thing. It is Poinsettia who escorts her back to her father with the help of her goons. Abby discovers all the terrible things that Dr. Arcane is doing and as a result, he tries to use her his genetic experiments. She is confined to a cell, but escapes when she seduces Gunn and flees to the swamp.
Dr. Arcane orders Gunn and Miss Poinsettia to find Abby and not to come back until they have accomplished their mission. Miss Poinsettia captures Abby and transports her by boat back to the laboratory by gunpoint.
Poinsettia provide plenty of comic relief in the movie, with her banter back and forth with Gunn. At one point the two try to one up each other in showing off their scars. Poinsettia points out the bite marks on one of her breasts that she obtained while attending a Motley Crue concert.
Abby is rescued by Swamp Thing. In the process, Gunn is killed by Swamp Thing, but the fate of Poinsettia is unknown. She disappears from the film after comparing scars with Gunn. It is assumed that she blew up in the explosion of the laboratory.
