Mimi Tan (Rosalind Chao) is a villainess from "Hong Kong Hustle," episode 7.17 of Castle (airdate March 16, 2015). She is the owner of the Jade Temple Restaurant.
As the episode reveals, Mimi is also the owner of VCN Holdings, and was in a bidding war with developer Jeffrey Wadlow for the Chinatown land. It was also revealed that Mimi was involved with human trafficking, as her waitresses are among many Chinese immigrants she has hired via a network of Triads, who then worked for her to pay off their debt. One such waitress was Zhu Yin, who became romantically involved with a man named Henry Graham, the restaurant's best customer. Henry went to Mimi to buy Zhu Yin's freedom by paying off the latter's debt to her, which was revealed to be $40,000. When he couldn't pay, the evil Mimi ordered Henry to frame Wadlow for drug possession in exchange for Zhu Yin's freedom, which would also eliminate her competition.
After Henry was found shot to death and Mimi's villainous history was revealed, it was led to believe that Mimi had killed Henry to tie up loose ends. Kate Beckett and Chief Inspector Zhang (the latter a friend of Henry's) confronted the villainess at her restaurant, with Mimi denying everything and demanding a lawyer. At that moment, Zhu Yin overheard everything and angrily attacked Mimi, accusing her of killing Henry, after which Zhu Yin revealed the debt she owed Mimi and that her evil boss forced her to work it off--another claim Mimi denied. Though it turned out Mimi was not Henry's killer, she was arrested and charged (off-screen) for her various crimes after it was revealed that Zhu Yin would testify against her in exchange for asylum.
