Mika Taniguchi (Rica Fukami) was a villainess from "An Elevator Murder Case", episode 1.19 of Case Closed (airdate June 10, 1996). She was the secretary of Eiko Ashiya, the head of a successful fashion design company.
The episode also revealed Mika as a villainous thief, as she was stealing fashion designs from Eiko's company and selling them to competitors. When Eiko learned about Mika's treachery and confronted her, threatening to report her to the police, the evil Mika boasted that she'd made enough money with her double dealings to afford the best lawyers and that a lawsuit would only damage the reputation of Eiko's company.
Afterwards, Mika filed her letter of resignation, with her last day being the day Ran Mouri (daughter of detective Kogoro Mouri) came to the Ashiya Building for a modelling interview. Vengeful, Eiko plotted to murder Mika, stabbing her to death in the building's elevator and staging the scene to make her death appear to be the work of a robber.
