I really want to discuss Freud Buster, because I feel it is being misused. Here are some criteria I want to lay out:
A Freud Buster is the most evil kind of villainess imaginable, a completely atrocious and irredeemable villainess. For this kind of villainess, doing evil is as natural as breathing. She can be recognized by these signs:
She commits acts that are atrocious by the standards of the story, and has crossed the Moral Event Horizon. Villainesses who have only crossed the MEH once rarely qualify, although rare examples exist.
She is taken seriously, causing fear, revulsion, and hatred from other characters in the story. Therefore, no villainesses who fall under Comic Relief can qualify (although villainesses with comedic personalities or traits can as long as their actions don't detract from their evil).
She is never presented in a positive way.
She can never feel love for others. If she claims to have love for anyone, that "love" would merely be either perversion, possessiveness, or obsession.
She is completely beyond redemption, and absolutely nothing justifies her heinous crimes.
She never displays any sense of remorse towards anyone she hurts or expresses any empathy for others.
She is never shown to have any redeeming qualities (that aren't ultimately subverted or shed).
Her Freudian Excuse is either completely absent, insufficiently touched upon, or inadequate to explaining her actions.
Anti-Villains can never qualify seeing as to how you are meant to sympathize with an anti-villain, even if you do not approve of their methods, nor is an obviously evil character such as a Serial Killer an automatic Freud Buster unless she is particularly brutal in nature or possesses a unique vile trait in the story.
(If I don't respond immediately, it's likely because I'm unable to reach this IP address.)
To cut right to the chase, I respect the thought, but don't have any intention to make further changes to any of the categories regarding levels of evilness. The modifications made in previous years (blogs, mostly heel, etc.) brought their share of struggles and in particular I suspect that much of the community here would like for things to stay as they are for once.
Hi Akujo, how are you? I'm Lostris, a Wiki Manager. I came here to talk to you about an upcoming change on Fandom that will affect all its communities, this one included, and I wanted to make sure things will go down as smoothly as possibly here.
While this undoubtedly be a change that will require some getting used to, Discussions has recently received a wave of interface improvements to make the feature more comfortable for Forums users, which was based on the feedback received from forum communities (although these enhancements are not on the Fandom app for Android and iOS). In the end, it's mainly the platform that will change, as people can continue to discuss the franchise on Discussions as frequently as they did here on the forums.
When this will happen, Discussions will be enabled on the wiki, and the transfer process will render the Forum into a read-only state as the content is migrated automatically. Discussions will be open during and after the migration, so you can continue to communicate while the transfer is ongoing. After the migration, you and the other admin may want to check the Discussion boards out to properly set up a categorization structure.
One of the biggest things you'll notice is that Discussions doesn't support wikitext. In order to preserve the Forum content as it currently is, even where those posts use wikitext, a special converter will be run so that your old Forums posts will look basically the same with the same formatting and templates after they have been migrated, with a few very rare exceptions. However, do note that editing old Forums posts and comments with wikitext on Discussions will break the formatting.
I took a look around on your forum posts, and I noticed that they aren't that heavy on wikitext, template or gallery use, or other complex formatting, as they're mainly regular discussion posts and the sharing of YouTube links. If I missed posts that would have any of the aforementioned and of which you have questions how that content will be preserved, please alert me to them, so I can pass that along to make sure it'll be given special attention.
I know this may be a change that you didn't ask for, but it is a Fandom site-wide change, and we are here to try to make this transition as easy and smoothly as possible. As such, you can check this archived thread for some frequently asked questions, but otherwise don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or comments you may have about this.
Hello there! I'm sharing with you an important message about the upcoming United Community Platform (UCP) this year. As you know, FANDOM and Gamepedia will receive a huge renovation for improvements of editor/user/visitor experience planned to allow all extensions currently available to the MediaWiki engine. And due to that, the community will be going through phases of the development. To stay up to date about these upcoming changes, the blog is available for you to reference. Additionally, please be on the lookout for UCP phase releases and keep the users informed. Please don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions.
I’m contacting you, because we want to get off on the right foot the year and after all the feedback received at Community Connect, we want to know more about the current status of the communities. First step is to analyze the previous year, so we would like to hear from you about 2019. It’s so important for us to know what’s your opinion about the work that we did in 2019. It has been a year of a lot of changes and we would like to continue working in the right direction and find solutions to any problem detected by you in the last year.
We know that you could have questions about the UCP too, please feel free to ask me anything about it and I will share your concerns, comments and questions with the other Community Managers in order to obtain an answer as soon as possible.
Finally, also I would like to invite you to rate the last year in Fandom from 1 to 5, meaning 1 as "definitely not good" and 5 like "this has been a fantastic year!". It would be super helpful for our work.
BTW, if you haven’t joined us on Discord, feel free to do it, we plan to run some new projects there and use it as platform to communicate important things to TV/Movies communities, so you will be welcome to our server!
And like I said, let me know if you have any question. I will be happy to help you.
