Magdalena "Magda" Montenegro (Cecelia Suárez) is the main villainess from the 2018 comedy, Overboard. She is the sister of Leonardo and Sofia Montenegro; the former of the two being one of the main characters of the film--which is a gender-swapped remake of the 1987 original under the same title.
While tending to their ailing father, Magda was dismayed to learn that Leonardo would be running their father's business in the event of his passing--something Magda had been vying for herself. Her attempts to bring up Leonardo's irresponsibility fall on deaf ears, as well as her proclamations that she does the important work at her father's company, while also belittling Sofia's work at the charity division as part of her elitist personality. Magda's conversation with Leonardo on his yacht left her more upset at the thought of her brother being the direct heir apparent.
After Leonardo fell overboard, Magda went to the hospital and spoke to one of the doctors about Leonardo's condition, with the doctor revealing that he suffered amnesia due to the fall. After learning about this, Magda deceptively stated that Leonardo wasn't her brother, and she used her brother's condition to fake his death as part of an insidious plan to inherit her father's business. As part of her scheme, the evil Magda snuck onto a campsite and stole ashes from a barbecue grill, and placed them in an urn that she purchased. The devious villainess presented the ashes to her father and Sofia and claimed that they were the cremated remains of Leonardo, while also stating that a shark killed him.
Magda's villainous scheme works, and she is named as the heiress apparent, even after her father recovers from his illness. However, Sofia is suspicious of her sister's scheme, which unraveled when Leonardo was found alive and at the home of main protagonist Kate. who was fired by Leonardo and manipulated him into believing that he was her husband and father of her daughters as payback. After Leonardo's memory returns and regains his inheritance, Sofia later revealed the rest of Magda's deception. As a result, Magda not only ended up disinherited, but under the order of her father, she would be working at the company's charity division, replacing and working under Sofia, much to Magda's embarrassment.
In the film's mid-credits scene, Magda is shown in the Philippines performing her new duties. She congratulates Leonardo and Kate on becoming husband and wife, and claimed to have enjoyed her new duties and that the underprivileged children adore her; a claim that a young boy next to her denied.
