Ludmilla Karenina is the seventh boss of the 2015 video game Devil's Third (Japanese: デビルズサード), a title exclusive for the Will U.
She is a high ranking Russian member of the School of Democracy, a terrorist group that tries to destroy the remaining governments of the world to spark a global revolution according to their ideas. Ludmilla is the stealth expert of the group and leads a special unit that uses optical camouflage to deceive and overwhelm hostile forces. She is makes her first appearance at the end of mission 8 and is encountered by the main protagonist Ivan, in mission 9. Ludmilla is one of two female villains in Devil's Third, the other being Jane Doe. She is voiced by Milena Gardasevic in English and by Masumi Asano in Japanese.
Backstory[]
Not much is known about Ludmilla's backstory other than she was born in Russia. Judging by her rank and her relationship with Isaac Kumano, the leader of SOD and the story's main antagonist, it can be assumed that she was one of his favorite students along with Ivan. As suggested by her mocking of Ivan's past during her boss fight, it can be assumed that she didn't get along with Ivan growing up, or she may have been jealous of him with how Kumano was willing to teach Ivan everything he knew, and being a father figure to him.

Personality[]
Ludmilla proves herself to be extremely callous, ruthless, and arguably the most cruel of all the SOD leaders. She is more than willing to kill anyone to accomplish her mission. In mission 9, she poisons her own soldiers with toxin just to kill Ivan. She is extremely loyal to Kumano and values his wisdom and training.
Combat Style[]
Thanks to several modifications she made to her bodysuit, Ludmilla is able to become almost invisable to the naked eye, allowing her to sneak up on her enemies and strike undectected. She wields a pair of handguns that she uses to attack from a distance. Ludmilla is also very athletic, able to perform many gymnastic evasions and quick close quarters attacks. She is physically strong as she is able to sneak up and strangle Ivan from behind and even kill him if he doesn't escape her hold
Plot[]
Flashback:[]
Ludmilla is present during the SOD biological assault at an unidentified town. Due to the serious number of civilian casualties during the attack, Ivan abandons the SOD. Ludmilla immediately orders the SOD soldiers to shoot Ivan for deserting, but C4, the sniper expert, manages to save Ivan but he is captured by the US military while Ludmilla and the other SOD leaders retreated.
Mission 8:[]
She first appears in the SOD main command center in the Cosmodrome of Mladshy Braat Island with Kumano. He ordered her to launch the missiles to London.
Mission 9:[]
Ivan and US forces invade the Cosmodrome, only to be ambushed by Ludmillla and her Optical Camouflage Soldiers. After further fighting in the base, Ivan meets more of Ludmilla's soldiers only for Ludmilla herself to use toxic gas to kill Ivan. The poison kills the US forces, Ludmilla's own soldiers and almost kills Ivan who was saved by using his drug. Ivan then asks Ludmilla why she killed her own men, to which she responds "they were in the way," showing her extreme callousness with no remorse for her own men. She then jumps down and turns invisible to fight and kill Ivan. Throughout the fight, she will mock Ivan for his past and his betrayal of Kumano and the SOD. After Ivan defeats Ludmilla, frustrated at her defeat, she retreats further into the base.
Later on after Ivan kills Kumano in the command center, he tries to disable the missiles. Ivan is then shot and seriously wounded as Ludmilla reappears and takes him completely by surprise. After believing she has already won, Ludmilla then proceeds to mock Ivan by stating that the revolution has begun and she is its angel of death. She further taunts Ivan by laughing wickedly while pointing her pistol at him in her moment of triumph. Ludmilla is then in a dominant position, wielding her handguns while Ivan is seriously injured, confident of her final victory. As she is about to win and kill Ivan, in a display of her arrogance, she takes too long to shoot. This gives C4 just enough time to come out and jump in the way to save Ivan, shielding him from Ludmilla's shots. Ivan retaliates by shooting Ludmilla and injuring her. Before she can recover, she was caught in a blast of fire from an explosion in the command center, burning her to death.
