Lola Medina is a sexy redheaded gypsy dancer in the 1968 Matt Helm film, "The Wrecking Crew". She is the ex-lover of the evil Count Massimo Contini (Nigel Green). Lola is played by the actress, Tina Louise.
We first see Lola performing her erotic gypsy dance on stage, while Matt Helm (Dean Martin) is being briefed on who she is at ICE headquarters. Matt is the ace spy for International Counter Espionage.
After Helm arrives in Copenhagen, Denmark, Helm meets Lola "accidentally" in his hotel lobby and she invites him to her apartment. Lola is trying to get back at her ex-lover Contini, by working out a plan to get him caught by Matt Helm. When Lola and Contini were an item, they were planning a billion dollar gold bar heist aboard a train to England through Denmark. When his new girlfriend Linka Karensky (Elke Sommer) came along, Lola got pushed to the curb. She offers Helm the opportunity to get Contini in exchange for a million dollars and the assurance that Helm will kill him. Lola seduces Helm with a slinky outfit and the two make out. When she goes to her own bar to open a bottle of Scotch, the bottle explodes, killing her. She definitely went out with a bang. The bottle was booby-trapped by Linka, who had watched Helm enter her apartment. I am sure that Contini had something to do with that arrangement. Lola's body could be seen through the smoke and rubble when Helm checks on her. Loved the character of Lola, and just wish they would have allowed her to live a little longer in the film.
