Lois Hammond (Amy Stewart) is the villainess of "Dead in the Water", episode 3.12 of Crossing Jordan (airdate May 23, 2004). She was the lawyer of Julie Seaton, the wife of plastic surgeon David Seaton. In the episode's beginning, David was found dead after being injected morphine and penicillin during an eye lift surgery (as David was allergic to those chemicals). Julie became a suspect in the case after an eyelash of hers was found on David's body.
When Julie was brought in for questioning, Lois argued that the evidence against Julie was circumstantial and chastised detective Annie Capra for mentioning that David had been having an affair to Julie before leaving with her client. But later on, after Dr. Garret Macy had M.E. Nigel Townsend see how Julie would've looked before the seven plastic surgeries she underwent over six years, his theory was proven correct: Lois and Julie were twin sisters. Garret and Annie called the two in to confront them about this, with Lois saying that their relationship was irrelevant to the case and mentioned how they looked identical when they were younger.
Garret went on to assert that Lois had killed David out of anger for both altering her sister's appearance and for his infidelity, as well as revealing how Lois and Julie were monozygotic twins and thus shared the same DNA (explaining why Julie was initially believed to David's killer). Lois indirectly confessed to killing David, much to Julie's shock, and was most likely arrested offscreen.
