Laura was questioned in regards to the murder of Kayla Markham, who had been found dead in a sacrificial chamber of the Xerda ruins. While Laura initially claimed to only know Kayla from the tours she went on, she was later revealed as a villainous accomplice in Kayla's robberies of the Xerda ruins, as Kayla was a serial tomb thief who had come to Grimsborough to steal and sell artifacts from the Xerda ruins.

Laura helped Kayla by telling her how to infilitrate the Xerda ruins to steal the artifiacts, making an arrangement with her to split the profits of Kayla's selling of the artifacts. But later on, Kayla went back on her deal with Laura, leading Laura to send her several messages demanding her share. Her messages to Kayla ultimately served as her villainous reveal, as Kayla's cell phone was found and the messages from Laura were recovered by Cathy Turner. When confronted by the player and David Jones, Laura confessed to her collusion with Kayla in the tomb theft, while angrily blasting her for reneging her agreement to splitting their ill-gotten gains. While Laura was ultimately proven innocent in Kayla's murder, she was placed under arrest for conspiring with Kayla in her robbery of Xerda.
