Lady Gillingham is the villainess who makes a brief yet memorable appearance in the opening sequence of Cloak and Dagger (1984).
Appearance[]
Super spy Jack Flack infiltrates an undisclosed location in Eastern Europe in order to steal valuable documents. Lady Gillingham happens to be the date / apparent bodyguard of the Iranian ambassador, who has the briefcase with the documents in it.
Flack dispatches the ambassador and his guards in a matter of seconds before attracting the attention of the Lady. She smiles sweetly at him, only to draw a small pistol from her cleavage and open fire. Thankfully, Jack has previously doffed his bulletproof beret, and held it over his heart. The bullet bounces right back into Lady Gillingham, leaving a small, neat, but apparently fatal wound over her heart.
The lady swoons and falls back, but Jack chivalrously catches her, and gently lowers her to the ground. After a brief check to make sure the lovely assassin is not displaying any signs of life, Jack crosses her hands (one still holding the tiny pistol) and leaves her to rest in peace.
Screenplay information[]
Lady Gillingham is not actually credited in the movie credits, nor on imdb, and to date, no information positively identifying the actress has been found. The character's name is taken from the movie screenplay, where she suffers a nearly identical fate. The difference is that, being a "voluptuous Englishwoman", her bra holster is large enough to contain a Luger, rather than a tiny derringer, and the bullet plants itself "right between [her] beautiful eyes", which rather eliminates the need for Jack to check whether she survived.
