Kathie Anderson (Tara Nicodemo) was a hidden villainess from the 2010 made-for-TV thriller Web Of Lies. She was a police detective assigned the case of the apparent murder of Josh Lawson, who was in actuality a computer hacker named Jarod Leary who had gotten involved with computer security specialist Abby Turner to gain access to their servers. Kathie pursued the case ferociously, even suspecting Abby of being Jarod's criminal cohort, and continued her investigation even after her partner Danny Wilcox was shot and killed during the investigation. Her intentions were not clean, though, as she had made a deal with Abby's boss Michael Brobin (who had forced Jarod to hack into his bank's security software to steal money for him), vowing to keep her silence as long as she got a decent portion of his ill-gotten gains.
Her villainous reveal came when Abby and Spider, a computer hacker who worked with Jarod, tried to hack into the main computer of Custodis (the cyber banking program that had been hacked) to find the stolen money. Kathie arrived soon after them, having been called by Abby earlier to provide backup. As the time ticks down before the money winds up being lost forever, Kathie revealed her malicious intent when she points her gun at Spider's head, threatening to kill her if the money was not retrieved. Working fast, Abby manages to save the money from being lost. Suddenly, Jarod (who has faked his death in order to escape his former employers and who was helping Abby and Spider) shows up and tackles Kathie, knocking the gun from her hand. Just when Kathie prepares to kill Jarod, Michael Brobin shows up and pulls another gun out of a desk before Kathie sees him. Kathie recognizes him and charges him before getting fatally shot.
Quotes[]
- "15 years I've been chasing white-collar criminals for the Bureau. Giving everything I've got for a lousy government salary and a crummy pension that amounts to nothing, while they walk away with millions and millions." (Kathie justifying her greedy actions after her reveal as a villainess)
