Kate McGrath (Kari Wuhrer) is the main villainess in the 1999 thriller "Kate's Addiction", which is also known as "Circle of Deception".

Kate McGrath is a young sociopath, who arrives in Los Angeles where she looks up her old high school and college friend Sara (Farrah Forke) and begins a devious game of manipulation, murder and seduction. With a little help from her co-conspirator and lesbian lover Zoey, (Natalie Radford), she moves into Sara's life.

Sara soon meets a new man in her life named Dylan (Matthew Porretta), which makes Kate extremely jealous. When the two of them announce their engagement, this puts a damper on Kate's plan for them to purchase a flower shop in New Orleans together. She tries to keep Sara all for herself.

Kate gets Zoey to help her kill Dylan by stabbing him and make it look like a robbery. To make it even more convincing, she stabs herself in the stomach to make it even more believable.

Kate then moves in with Sara to console her and creep back into her life. One night, Kate gets Sara drunk and seduces her. Afterwards, Sara decides she wants to forget about the incident.

They decide to open a flower shop in Los Angeles and Kate blackmails a man named Jack (Joel Gretsch) so he will seduce Sara. He uses a date rape drug to knock her out at night and take advantage of her.

At the end of the film, Kate is shot in the in the foot then the chest by Sara, after she attempts to rape her.
