Janet Lawrence (Kimberly Brooks) is the main villainess from "Space Ape at the Cape," the third episode of What's New, Scooby Doo? (airdate September 28, 2002). She is at the Extraterrestrial Information Search (ETIS) who was working on a project involving an alien egg. However, her project was not finished in time for the shuttle launch, and to prevent embarrassment, Janet decided to prevent the launch from happening.
Janet cooked up a story regarding a Space Ape hatching from the egg, stating that it was the complication in her project. To keep up the ruse, she trained Reggie, a chimpanzee, to dress up as a smaller version of the alien and scare onlookers, before dressing up as the alien herself and attempting to prevent Mystery Inc's investigation. Janet portrayed both the medium version of the Space Ape, and the large version; wearing stilts to portray the larger version. Her attack on Shaggy and Scooby was thwarted by Captain Treesdale, who developed a rash when he made contact with the alien. As revealed later on, Janet had concocted an allergy powder to give Treesdale that rash.
Janet was revealed as the alien when she was caught in one of the group's traps, which ended with her and Scooby inside an centrifugal force machine. Fred activated the machine, which spun around at high speeds until Janet's alien mask was ripped open. The rest of the gang opened the machine and saw Scooby and Janet both dizzy from the machine, as well as Janet revealed as the villainess. Janet was arrested and handcuffed, but despite this, she assaulted the arresting officers and attempted to escape, only to be tripped up by FBI Agent Celia Clyde.
