Helen Gifford and Kathy Reiner (Storie Blu)

Professor Helen Gifford and her trusted assistant Doctor Kathy Reiner are the two antagonists of the 1987 Italian erotic horror comic "Storie Blu 97: Identita' Sessuale" (Sexual Identity). They were created by Augusto Chizzoli (artist) and Carmelo Gozzo (writer).

At the University of Philadelphia, Helen and Kathy secretly perform experiments inside of a private lab in the school. Though they tell the Dean that it is related to developing a new metal alloy for airplanes, the true goal of the women is that they want to be able to perform a sex change on each other. To do this, though, they need test subjects. They first abduct a newly-hired female janitor and restrain her within the lab. Before beginning, Helen and Kathy rape her together for their own pleasure. Ultimately, however, the experiment is a failure and results in the death of the janitor. Nevertheless, the corpse does prove useful in providing cell samples, which they harvest before dismembering the body and destroying the pieces in sulfuric acid.

The next day, the two women try again with the protagonist, a girl named Sally Marshall. Kathy feels that abducting a student is more risky than she'd like, but Helen reminds her that they wouldn't be able to smuggle a live person into the school from the outside, and thus, the guinea pig has to come from within. After luring Sally into the lab, they subject her to the machine and are delighted to find that she now has a fully-functioning penis. The two villainesses continue to refine the machine over the next two days. However, an earthquake strikes while they are both off talking to the Dean in his office, knocking the machine over and directing the rays right towards Sally's body.

By the time Helen and Kathy return, Sally has been fully transformed into a man. Using her new masculine strength, the student gets her enthusiastic revenge by raping the two and then turns the machine on them. They rays continue to penetrate the two women's bodies until they finally explode in a shower of blood and gore. Sally then covers up their deaths to make it look like they accidentally killed themselves with their machine, and then sneaks out of the building, ready to enjoy her new life as the opposite sex.
