Goneril (Katrin Carlidge) is one of the two evil sisters in the 2000 TV movie Cinderella.
Goneril, along with her sister Regan (Lucy Punch), mistreat and bully Cinderella (Marcella Plunkett) after their selfish mother Claudette (Kathleen Turner) managed to win the heart of Cinderella's father. The three women, in the meantime, gradually poison Cindrella's father in order to inherit his wealth. The film also mimicks part of the plot in Shakespeare's King Lear, as the wicked sisters (named as in the play) win the favour of their stepfather and the expense of his other daughter.
As in the fairytale storyline, the evil sisters seek to win the graces and to marry the prince; however, their plan is foiled even if initially the Prince dances with Goneril. Regan is incredulous at her rejection. Later however, the prince goes for Cinderella, who suddenly leaves.
The Prince searches for the woman using the shoe she left behind. Neither Regan nor Goneril manage to put on the shoe. They are both incredulous and angry as the Prince finds Cinderella and has her put on the shoe.
The two sisters' and their wicked mother's plot to murder Cinderella's father is also uncovered, and the three are evicted from his palace.
