Gloria (Barbara Valentin) is a secondary antagonist in the 1965 Italian eurospy film “Our Man in Jamaica”. The film’s original title is “001 Operacion Caribe”.
Gloria poses as secretary to Signora Cervantes (Linda Sini) who is an antique collector.
Agent 001 Ken Stewart (Larry Pennell) is a British secret agent who is sent to Jamaica to locate the missing Agent 009 Larry Peacock (Rolf Luder) who vanished investigating an arms smuggling operation. After two more of Stewart’s friends are found dead of electrocution, 001’s investigation leads him to an American criminal who was sentenced to the electric chair but escaped from prison. Seeking revenge, he assembles an army of terrorists based on an island seven miles from Jamaica called Dominica (today known as the Dominican Republic). His arms smuggling is the beginning of a scheme to attack the U.S. with the aid of Red China and Cuba.
Gloria is first seen in the film when Stewart shows up to meet her employer, Signora Cervantes (Linda Sini). Stewart tells Cervantes that he is also an antique collector.
Stewart returned to Cervantes residence to let her know that the Flamingo Bay warehouse had burned down. This was Cervantes’ warehouse, and it was Gloria who answered the door despite it being very late in the evening. He then interrogated Gloria to find out what was really going out there at Flamingo Bay. When she acted oblivious to any wrongdoing, she quickly tried to change the subject and began kissing him. They were interrupted by the doorbell ringing. When they answered the door it was Stewart’s friend Larry Peacock who was dead. A phone call revealed that he was next.
The next day Stewart met with Signora Cervantes who introduced him to Elmer Hayes (Wolfgang Kieling), who happened to be the American gangster who had escaped prison. While they were talking Stewart was arrested on trumped up charges of assault. Fortunately, it was a way to meet with Capt. Mike Jefferson (Brad Harris) who was trying to capture Elmer Hayes and bring him back to custody in America. Stewart was able to install a listening device on the ship used to smuggle the arms.
Stewart returned to Cervantes residence and found Gloria taking a dip in the pool. He presented her with a picture of her dancing together with Hayes the arms dealer at a nightclub. Gloria tried to pass it off as nothing, but Ken continued to press. He wanted to know why she had lied about Larry Peacock and what the name of the gang leader was. She told him she was unable to do that. Finally, a gun appeared from the window of the house as Ken continued to try to get information out of her. She was shot with a dart gun in her back and Ken was not able to get confirmation from her before she died. She was working for Hayes while undermining her boss Cervantes without her knowledge. They were using Cervantes’ business to do their smuggling of the arms.
