Frankie Leith is the main antagonist in the 1982 action adventure movie, The Final Option. She is the leader of a radical anti-nuclear left-wing protest group that has possible ties to the Soviets and the Libyans (cold war era), they secretly plot a terrorist action to take over the US Embassy in London and detonate a nuclear warhead on a base in Scotland by threatening the VIP hostages, she is a good looking redhead, but is dangerously radicalized by ideology, she is proficient in handling of firearms. She is played by Judy Davis.
The group is infiltrated by a Captain called Skellen (Lewis Collins) who is actually an undercover officer who serves as a member of the UK special forces unit The Special Air Service. Things become complex as Skellen and Leith actually become romantically involved, but Leith's suspicions become aroused and Leith orders some of her terrorist comrades to take Skellen's wife and infant daughter hostage to assure his cooperation.
At the climax, the US embassy is taken over by Leith's terrorist group and VIP hostages taken, but things go wrong when a high ranking US official is killed by the terrorists, Skellen manages to signal the authorities, unbeknown to his captors from inside the embassy, the SAS then mount a helicopter raid against the Embassy, Skellen procures a submachine gun from one of the terrorists and manages to slay a number of them, just as the SAS storm the building and kill the others while freeing the hostages. Skellen comes face to face with Leith at a vital moment in the action and hesitates to shoot her, at that moment a SAS trooper appears on the scene and kills Leith with a burst of machinegun fire.
