Frances Sullivan (Marjorie Yates) is the main villainess from "The Client," the antepenultimate episode of Ransom's second season (airdate June 23, 2018).
Backstory[]
Frances is the owner of the Sullivan Construction Company in South Boston, though she is actually a crime boss who uses her company as a front. Frances' slight backstory revealed that she was a notorious killer; having put more bodies in the ground than her husband. She was also a tax evader, having her accountants, Anita and Lucas Thomas, help her in her financial crimes. However, the couple wanted out and eventually testified against Frances following her arrest, resulting in Frances serving 10 years in jail. Meanwhile, the Thomases had taken $2.5 million from Frances, and spent the entire decade in Witness Protection in Québec City, raising their children, Taylor and Nolan.
Events[]
Shortly after Frances' release, she went right after the Thomases, not only for revenge but for the money that was taken from her. The episode began with Anita and Lucas abducted from their home, as Taylor discovered when she arrived home. Frances also had her hired guns kill Sylvia Winwood, Taylor and Nolan's aunt (in actuality, a U.S. Marshal in charge of the family's safety), and after Eric Beaumont and the rest of his group arrived (under Taylor's call), the villainess posed as Sylvia when she received a call from Eric. However, Oliver Yates pinpointed that the woman who Eric and Taylor spoke to was not Sylvia, as the number was from Boston.
After being caught by one of Frances' henchmen, Eric was taken directly to Frances' hideout, where Anita and Lucas were held captive. Frances made a direct demand to Eric regarding her money, threatening to kill the entire family as well as Eric if he didn't comply. However, as Nolan later revealed to Oliver, Frances planned to kill the Thomases even after receiving the money, as she was purely out for revenge. The planned exchange occurred in the episode's climax, with Anita and Lucas rescued, only for Eric to realize that Frances was warned that she was set up. At that moment, Frances arrived and shot the Marshal in charge of the kids to death, and later phoned Eric and warned him to get her the money or she would kill Taylor and Nolan. Eric and Oliver heard a gunshot, but it was revealed that Taylor had her father's gun and ired it before pointing it at Frances with intent on killing her. She was eventually talked down by Oliver, allowing Frances to be taken into custody.
