Babette is a character from the 1997 movie Black Scorpion II: Aftershock. She is played by the actress and former Miss America, Laura Elena Harring.

Babette is the personal assistant to the city’s mayor, Arthur "Artie" Worth (Matt Roe). In addition, the two share an extramarital love affair and are partners in corruption. The mayor, who owes his election to extravagant promises, systematically embezzles the city’s funds.

Despite her obvious lack of intelligence, Babette is well aware of these activities and, more importantly, directly benefits from them. For instance, she mentions the couple’s trips to the Caribbean on the taxpayer’s nickel. Despite being hired as a secretary, Babette is never seen doing any actual work like typing or making coffee. In fact, she seems totally unqualified for the job (on one occasion, she asks how to spell “job”) and spends her office hours seducing the mayor or, for that matter, anyone else who steps into his office.

Towards the end of the movie, the pair’s corrupt practices are exposed and they are about to be arrested by the police. In a desperate move, the mayor takes one officer, Michael Russo (Whip Hubley)  hostage and Babette lines up behind him, encouraging him to stand his ground so that they can flee to the Caribbean. After the heroine Black Scorpion in her civilian guise, Darcey Walker (Joan Severance) had disarmed the mayor, Babette turns on her lover and complains about not getting that holiday on some tropical island after all. As they are arrested and escorted out by the police. Babette seems not entirely displeased at being handled in this way and begins flirting with the uniformed officer. However, her advances go un-reciprocated, and Babette is led away.

Black Scorpion (the TV series)

Babette (Shae Marks) reprises her role as the super airheaded secretary to the weaseling Mayor of Angel City, appearing in 13 of the 22 episodes in the 2001 TV series "Black Scorpion". Her real name is apparently Agnes. The chief advisor to said dilapidated official is little less than a thoughtless petty call girl; willfully partaking of her oafish, imbecilic employer's selfish and highly irresponsible antics.

The titular hero once calling her a dumb bimbo at one point.

Her main feature in the short-lived superhero spoof; was being arguably one of, if not the most, spectacularly well endowed women amongst a bevy of generously stacked bad girls than the Mayor's bubble headed secretary Babette. Largely spending the entire time giggling and jiggling throughout the show as some picture perfect example of uber-bimbo confusion.

Putting it flatly, it is needless to say Babette doesn't even know (much less recall) what it is that she's supposed to be doing for a job occupation let alone her correct bra size. Her secretarial skills likewise being well below standard, to the point that nothing ever gets done in office. Despite her, Arthur's cronies and her corrupt boss, Mayor Worth himself, being carted away on criminal charges for earthquake embezzlement in the prior film leading up to the show. The two as well as the Mayor's yes-men are summarily reinstated back into office on the bupkis grounds that everything which went wrong with said tireless scheme had been mysteriously overturned. It was never explained how or why the appeal for their release never fell through.

Despite her employer being a criminal incompetent, not to mention ex-con, who is constantly drumming up new cockamamie schemes to raise money for re-election campaigns or fueling his lavish lifestyle via less than legitimate means.

I.e. endangering lives by debilitating both fire and police departments, placing bets on sports teams using city funds, forceful transient relocation for land development, blackmailing equally; flagrantly inept judges, illicit waste disposal at Angel Bay and various embezzling cons on top of pocketing said ill-gotten earns for his spoiled and frankly useless secretary. Babette is both totally aware of, not to mention complicit in, these larcenous misdeeds and as with most politicians. Her idiot bosses malignant actions are either seldomly brought to light, often being swept under the rug, or most likely just completely glossed over by everyone. In spite of the seriousness of his crimes. Usually resulting in the Mayor and Babette getting off scot-free of scandal despite their hideous amounts of corruption. Always seemingly avoiding karma for a great many of their calamities caused by the duo's destructive stupidity.

Speaking of stupidity, the empty minded Babette is regularly seen wearing next to nothing whilst on the clock. All of her work environment offensive attire pertaining to short skirts, low-cut tops, and big hair often done to show off her perfect body and ridiculously over the top assets.

The accomplice of Arthur "Artie" Worth (Robert Pine) has been in a long running with him for at least five years since his initial election for Mayor; in spite of his being a married man. The two crooks do little to absolutely nothing to hide their sexual involvement; not even from Artie's wife, Mrs. Worth. As in the films, they are both usually seen in compromising situations set within the Mayor's office without a care in the world. The majority of episodes she appears in portrays Babette as either the brainless beauty or the damsel in distress. Surprisingly enough however, it always seemed that the head Alcalde was as big of a coward as she was a gold-digging bombshell.

Their relations being as toxic as it was unsupportive nor truly faithful. Her beloved Artie Party usually offering her up to the latest freak of the week (most likely created by the harmful fallout of his criminal endeavors) in exchange for his own safety. Whilst the lady in question quickly dumping him to schmooze up to one with greater power than she; herself when it looks like somebody else will assume the reigns.

Something which is evident in the episode "Roses are Red, You're Dead" when she shacked up with Greenthumb (David Lander) as he threatened the city with lethal mutant pollen spoors.
