Eva Mason (Magenia Tovah) was the main villainess from CSI: NY's ninth and final season opener, "Reignited" (airdate September 28, 2012). She was a psychology student who was doing a study on arsonists and pyromaniacs.
As part of her studies, Eva visited convicted arsonist Leonard Brooks multiple times in prison, after which she developed an obsession with him. Eva turned heel and became an arsonist herself, having burned down several buildings in her native Pennsylvania before she was arrested and convicted just months before the episode's events. Her actions were committed as a show of devotion to Brooks, and while she was on parole, Eva left Pennsylvania and was in New York, where she burned another building. Captain Curtis Smith and the rest of the FDNY responded to the call, but during the mission, Smith tripped on a tripwire set by Eva, which caused an explosion that killed Smith.
The maniacal villainess set another fire in a building in Brooklyn, with intent on killing anyone inside, but fatalities were prevented. After seeing Brooks (who was just released) with Mac Taylor, the evil Eva appeared inside his apartment and held him at gunpoint, as she was planning on killing Brooks for what she perceived as betrayal against her. She voiced her devotion to Brooks and stated that she was just like him; that she loved fire and burning down buildings. Brooks stated that he would never try to kill during his spree, with Eva defending her murderous actions by saying that she was doing what Brooks couldn't.
The deranged arsonist had set up an explosion in Brooks' apartment, with Eva adding that he would be killed by the thing he loved most. Having seen the trap, however, Brooks pulled the rug under Eva to trip her up, and later jumped out through the window. Eva panicked and attempted to leave through the front door, but she was unable to do so in time, as she was killed by her own explosive trap.
