Empress Zara (女帝ザーラ) is the deuterantagonist of the 1989 action manga "Jushin Liger" (獣神ライガー), as well as the anime of the same name, by creator Go Nagai (永井 豪).
A descendant of the evil god Drago, Zara is the empress and priestess of the Drago Empire. She is a demoness with the upper body of a humanoid woman and the lower body of a snake. Zara is both brutal and cunning, and likes to attack people psychologically; driving them to despair and fear, and then slaughtering them. She invades the human world in order to revive Drago, so that he may defeat Liger, the main obstacle in his way. Zara receives a revelation from the god Drago and sends her Demon Dragon Warriors and Metal Knight to accomplish this task.
Zara is ultimately killed when the revived Drago eats her alive in order to absorb her power; stating in the manga that he has no allies and that all that exists are slaves to be sacrificed before him.
