Emily Price (Molly Brown) is the hidden main villainess from Conviction's fourth episode, "Mother's Little Burden" (airdate October 24, 2016). She is the teenage daughter of Penny and Greg Price, and the younger sister of Owen Price, who died at age 12 on September 27, 2010.
Penny was the latest client of Hayes Morrison and her crew, as she was tried and convicted in the death of Owen, who was violent and autistic. Owen's cause of death was originally believed to be sodium poisoning, as it was believed that Penny force-fed Owen a bottle of soy sauce. However, the episode's progression revealed that Owen actually died of an insulin shot, and in the investigation, Greg (who was having an affair at the time) was accused of killing his son.
Suspicion later turned Eduardo Peligro, the family's caretaker, after his texts were uncovered and showed him stating that Owen belonged in a better place. The texts were sent a day after the murder as Eduardo was visiting his sister, Jazmin, in the hospital, as she was in a diabetic coma. Hayes and Maxine Bohen went to Eduardo's home, where he stated that he meant that Owen should be in a residential facility where he could get 24-hour care, and he also revealed that Jazmin's insulin kit went missing. It was also revealed that Jazmin was good friends with Emily, and after Jazmin added that Emily knew about her diabetes and provided her insulin shots, the truth was revealed: Emily killed her brother.
Even at a young age (11 at the time of Owen's death), Emily felt that Owen was ruining not only her mother's life, but her own as well, as his behavior prevented her from having any friends--including Jazmin--over at her house. On the day in question in 2010, Emily stole Jazmin's insulin kit, and afterwards, she fed Owen the soy sauce to keep him quiet, allowing the evil Emily to inject the insulin into her brother. Her villainous actions not only killed Owen, but also nearly killed Jazmin, as she went into the coma due to her kit being missing. Hayes talked with Penny and Emily in prison, and it was there that Hayes revealed that Emily killed Owen. The villainess claimed to love her brother, but added that he was tearing the family apart, and it was at that moment that Penny told Emily to stop talking. Penny told Emily to go home and live her life, after which she falsely confessed to killing Owen, stating that she would make the same confession to any judge and jury because Emily deserves a life. As Hayes revealed in the end of the episode, Penny remained in prison due to the confession, with Emily never receiving a comeuppance.
