Elizabeth Bloom (Sherry Miller) is a hidden villainess from "The Box," episode 1.03 of Ransom (airdate January 21, 2017). She is the chief of the board of directors of a bank in New York City.
Before taking her position at the bank, Elizabeth was a real estate developer, and one of the properties she owned was the location where an unarmed teenager was shot and killed by police in 2008. Deputy Commissioner Patrick Fletcher was on duty that day, and he was the one who fired the shot, and he forced his partner, Teddy Grimes, to take the fall and state that he was alone. However, when Grimes decided to come clean, Fletcher set him up, resulting in Grimes being arrested and convicted. A security camera caught the shooting on video, and it was later acquired by Elizabeth, who used it to blackmail Fletcher into giving her special treatment.
The episode's events had Grimes out of prison and working with Zachary Smith to rob the bank, doing to the take the videotape in Elizabeth's safe deposit box. It was after security guard Bill Winks was shot that Eric Beaumont and his crew were enlisted by Beaumont's ex-wife, Nathalie Denard, and it was there that they encountered Elizabeth, who acted pleased to see the group. Later on, Nathalie and Maxine Carlson approached Elizabeth and asked for the list of people who rent the bank's safe deposit boxes, as the robbers were going after them. Elizabeth cooperates, though Maxine sensed she was hiding something.
Elizabeth's reveal began when Beaumont revealed to Nathalie and Maxine that Elizabeth was the owner of the box that Grimes and Smith were after, and her connection to Grimes and Fletcher were uncovered by Zara Hallam and Commissioner Nina Sellars. In a later scene, the evil Elizabeth met with Fletcher, showing worry and regret over giving the list, with the knowledge that Grimes could go after both of them. The scene completed Elizabeth's reveal as a villainess, and she was assured by Fletcher that he can take care of things once the tape was found. Fletcher's plan included setting up snipers to kill Grimes and Smith after the tape was found, but with the help of security guard Angela Rose, Beaumont managed to talk Grimes into giving him the tape, telling him Fletcher's true plans for him. After Grimes shoots and kills Smith (following Smith's attempt at Rose), he ended up arrested, but according to Maxine at the episode's final scenes, both Elizabeth and Fletcher were on the run, leaving the fate of the villainess unknown beyond the end of the episode.
