Elena Morales (Layla Alizada) was a recurring villainess from Season 1 of NBC's Taken. She was the handler of cartel leader Carlos Mejia, who was arrested after attempting to kill Bryan Mills in revenge for his son's death, with his plan resulting in Bryan's sister Cali being shot and killed by Mejia. Following Mejia's incarceration, Elena began spying on Bryan via hidden cameras planted in his home and posed as a friend to his girlfriend Asha Flynn, planning to kill him once he led her to where Mejia was.

Elena made her move in the season's penultimate episode, "Gone", which had Carlos and Elena's henchmen attempting to break Carlos out of custody by kidnapping the husband of FBI agent Marie Salt. After their plan was foiled, the evil Elena had her henchmen break into Bryan's house to kidnap Asha, drugging Asha with a syringe when she tried to escape. Bryan was later called while he was transporting Mejia to reveal to him how Asha had been kidnapped, ultimately forcing him to allow Mejia to escape under the threat of Asha being killed.

In the season finale, "I Surrender", Elena was shown allowing Asha to use the bathroom at a gas station as she Carlos were taking her to Mexico, with the two stopping her escape attempt and forcing her to talk to Bryan over the phone. Later on, Elena was gagged by Carlos and taken into an abandoned building by Elena, where Asha managed to grab Carlos' gun and point it at Elena, who in turn drew her own gun. Shortly after Asha was disarmed by Carlos, however, Bryan arrived and fired a shotgun through the front door, with Carlos' henchmen holding Bryan off as Carlos and Elena took Asha down into a hidden cellar. Bryan followed suit, with Elena staying behind to fight him off as Carlos made off with Asha. Bryan engaged in a brief gunfight with Elena, with Bryan killing Elena with a shot to the chest.
